I have just been able to login to the dashboard after having NOT missed it over the Christmas holiday. When I'm busy, I would only hit the dashboard about once a month, maximum.

There is a service announcement there for those who aren't as lucky as I was to find it up and running. I'll post it here for your consumption.

=================================================

Service Announcements
Limited Time Offer! Sign up for a second Vonage line before 12/31/05 and we’ll credit you for the activation fee. Get it now in the Add-on’s section of your Web Account.

After completing your order, just contact customer care by phone or email to request credit of $29.99 on your next Vonage bill.

=================================================

I kid you not. That's what it is showing at the moment.

Just so that there isn't all negativity on here, Dashboard seems to be back up, at least for me. I've been able to log in 3 separate times now and it's only been up for about an hour or so but it is working. Yay Vonage!

After trolling this particular topic for the past couple of days I was starting to second guess my decision to go with Vonage but most of the negativity stems from Dashboard being down. Once I get my Vonage line ringing, all will be well and I will have my POTS replacement line and my seemingly bad decision becomes a good one again.

This forum is extremely helpful for troubleshooting. I have yet to call CS b/c of this forum. Thanks for all of the people who have been there who try to help!

I wholeheartedly disagree with Voip being called immature. Voip *can* be more reliable than traditional phone systems & phone service if done right. Several hospitals in this area have migrated over to Voip. Initially they ran the old Nortel system in all patient care areas until the Voip system proved itself, but now their entire facility runs on Voip. Granted, there's a huge difference in quality between a Cisco IP phone and the Linksys adapters Vonage has been using, BUT good quality control should have picked up many, if not all of the firmware & hardware issues we've seen in here. Again, lack of planning. As far as the dashboard not being an "essential" part of the service, try having your phone # forwarded to another location and not being able to change it. Vonage needs to take some of their advertising budget and spend it on the R&D/IT departments and get their servers (and stuff) together.

Totally agreed. Certain features like call forwarding are standard options that we're all used to, even before Voip. These features should just work, and not be controlled through the web site only.

To say "we should just expect this" most of the time is ridiculous. Vonage's actual Voip network works well, so why can't the web servers? As a business owner, I heavily rely on call forwarding and being able to change my voice mail options on a regular basis. And when I'm unable to do this just because I can't log into the web site, this is a major problem. And there are many other people with the same issue.

Web sites are not an "early technology" so we shouldn't expect frequent outages like this. What we're all complaining about is that Vonage needs to address the frequent problems with the web site--and eventually give users the ability to control certain features through the phone itself, so we don't have to rely solely on the web site to access basic features. That my friend has nothing to do with Voip technology. That's a web site development flaw. I have been pleased with the actual service, but not being able to change basic features for days at a time is a major problem.

Doesn't work. It's the voicemail screen itself that times out.

I was able to get to an error page when trying to log in that gave me the name of the application server software they are using for their website. It is called Resin, which is an open-source application server, which means that they have no service-level agreements with any 3rd party that would be able to help them get this fixed. Also, the version is 2.1.11, which was released in 2003, and is now a number of revisions behind. I understand the "if-it-ain't-broke" mentality for leaving it as is for so long, but it would be nice to know that they are trying to keep their back-end software as up to date and functioning as possible. As an IT professional, this does not give me a "warm and fuzzy" feeling...

Well, it seems that their systems are starting to come up again. I am logged in right now, but some screens are still failing. They may have had to migrate the application to new servers, but without a status site to let the consumer know, who knows what they are doing!!

as of 355pm pacific, it was 404 after the logon, now at 400pm, it's Error , system error occurred.

Customer service said that it was the first (he) had heard it, so it pushed it into tech support to get looked at.

I'm in SF area, don't know if this is localized problem or not.

Is anyone calling them when you have these problems? Or is it likely that CS doesn't know what's going on?
