The message you're getting is normal if the adapter is unable to connect to the Vonage service. The question, then, is why it isn't. I assume that the phone lights are not lit. Is that correct? Have you registered the device with Vonage? Have you run a test at www.testyourvoip.com ? What results? What are your upload and download speeds? Have you tried re-cycling everything and powering up in the correct order?

Steve, Thanks for the reply

I assume that the phone lights are not lit. Is that correct? No they are NOT lit
Have you registered the device with Vonage? I purchased the router directly from Vonage. The instructions that came from Vonage do not state anything about Registering it. When I attempted to register the MAC, The site wants me to sign up for another package.....
Have you run a test at www.testyourvoip.com ? What results? 3.4-2.9 not very good but I live in the Middle East.
What are your upload and download speeds? up=128mb, down 512mb
Have you tried re-cycling everything and powering up in the correct order? Yes I have tried this several times.

Thanks again for the reply Stepnharp

Important information, that. It is VERY possible that your local service provider is blocking the Vonage ports on you. Look at the numerous threads from people all around the world fighting local ISP's who block Voip ports.

What country are you in?

Nate- The test call did work, even if poorly. Doesn't that indicate that the ports are open?

Stepnharp- Is your computer plugged into the WRT or directly into the 3 com? Try temporarily removing the 3 com and plugging the WRT directly into the DSL modem. You may have to set PPPoE on the WRT to do this. If you get a phone light that way, then replace the 3 com and try putting the WRT in the 3 com's DMZ.

That indicates that port 5060 is open to the testyouvoip.com servers. But Vonage uses a range of other ports to establish connection, and those ports could also be blocked. His ISP could also be blocking Vonage specifically (testyourvoip.com is not competition, Vonage is).

Despite the fact that Vonage shipped the device, perhaps the MAC is not set up correctly in their database?

I'd also turn off wireless and any other feature on the router and just plug it in and leave it there for a while, in case it needs new firmware. Some of the older firmwares required the memory consumed by wirless in order to do a successful firmware upgrade (what firmware is it running now)?

It could be any one of a number of things, but there has been a BIG rash of "unable to connect" from foreign countries lately.
