So I finally found my wires connected to the apartment building's main box and disconnected them. I pluged my ATA into the wall and got a tone on all my phones. Problem is, my $5 tester from radio shack says that the wiring is revesed. Which makes a little sense, since the signal is now coming from inside the house.
When pluged into the ATA, the tester reads 'okay'. So my question is, do I need to make a crossover cable to be safe? Or am I okay with reversed wiring?
Thanks in advance. |

Which is not to say that you aren't reversed... you are.
But as has been mentioned in other threads on distributing Voip in the house, most phones don't care about that reversal. |

Apparently the telephone wire from the ATA to the wall socket reverses the connection. As others have said, it doesn't seem to make any difference. Nevertheless, you can do like I did and reverse the line on one end before connecting to the wall outlet. |

I've never had problems with the wires being reversed but I am a bit anal about things like that so whenever they are revered I switch them. |
