Post subject: Periodic Outages
Just wondering if anyone has ever seen this problem before. I have a Cable Modem >> Linksys 8 Port router (BEFSR81) >> Motorola ATA
It seems every time I come home and pick use the phone, it dies. I don't know if it is the Router that is dying or the ATA is crapping out.
What I need is a way to figure out what is crapping out. Anyone have any ideas? It is getting a bit old.
Thanks!

Call Tech Support, describe the problem and ask them to check your firmware version. My Motorola ATA was losing dial tone every 4-5 days and had to be reset. The tech said I was two revisions back on my firmware. He scheduled the update and in about 10 minutes my box was updated.
The tech indicated that there were some fixes included for this problem. Things have been much more stable for me now.
It would seem logical that these updates would be distributed automatically, but that doesn't always seem to be the case.
