Is anyone else having Christmas Day issues with calls being dropped? Only get busy signals when making calls, and it drops incoming calls.

My power did go off today briefing, and I reset the router and my cable modem. Since I have reset numerous times I don't think it is my modem or router. It seems like Vonage's system is down.

I was able to make a few calls yesterday with no problems. A few busy signals, but that was because the intended recipients of the call were already on the phone. Wink

Never had a call drop.

I have not experienced busy signals or dropped calls but I have come accrossed an interesting trick that Vonage appears to pull that seems kind of hoakie. I was attempting to call someone that I knew was busy and the number rang through. I let it ring for 15 seconds or so and then all of the sudden the ring turned into a busy signal. I am theorizing that Vonage passes a "fake" ring to you if they do not have enough trunk lines to complete the call until one frees up and then connects that call. The only way this would be detected is if the number you were calling was busy as otherwise, to the untrained ear it just seems like it is ringing an exceptionally long time. One thing I noted about the fake ring is that it seems to be of somewhat faster repetition then a normal ring sound. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I haven't heard of nor experienced the fake ring to busy situation. As far as calls on Christmas Day, between my wife and myself we talked for about 7 hours total to 3 different numbers without ANY problems. It was quite nice for a change. Looks like .58 fixed my outbound choppy audio problems.

Yes, I've been having trouble with calls all weekend. My router is not even connected because I'm out of town and my calls are being forwarded to my softphone. The tech support rep said my calls were not even getting to my router as they should be forwarded from their server. He did say they were having PSTN problems in Miami. I am located in Ft. Lauderdale.
One out of every 10 calls will go through. Some ring to fast busy, some just keep ringing, and some do not ring at all. I just wish Vonage would fess up when they have a problem and not act like it's a limited problem with my router. I've never really had problems until the last two weeks. No one from customer service will call back or e-mail. I would just love to know what is going on with the service I am paying for. I am not a techie but it doesn't say you need to be one to have the service work. I would love to hear a reply from Vonage but I know what the "canned" answer will be.
