We hope! The UK and Switzerland are going to be the first countries in Europe to get Vonage 'sometime this year'. But that's all we know. Hopefully before July. Pleeeaaase!
Similar services to Vonage are starting to become available, but many aren't retailing at all, so we have to wait for other companies to provide the service under their own private label.
Geographical number availability, never mind portability, is a problem and many companies are only offering non-geographic local rate numbers,(eg: 011 44 845 xxx xxxx) which can be pricey if you phone from outside the UK- Vonage charges 22c/min which is eleven times as much as geographic. Ouch.
If Vonage can offer central London numbering at the very least, 011 44 20 7xxx xxxx, then we should be OK. Heck, they're already offering Canadian area codes as virtual numbers for its existing US service, so why not London ones as well? |
