If Voip is legal in your country you should call Vonage. They may be able to route your calls around the blocks.

If they are unable then the remaining solutions are economically viable only if you have a large group of Voip users or access to a VPN to a company outside of Guyana.

Legally? I don't know your country's laws.

Technically? Check the "Loss of Voip in Qatar" thread - http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic9854-0.html - the same thing has happened before in other countries.

Just out of curiousity, I checked the DSL agreement from Guyana Telephone & Telegraph Co. at: DSL Agreement section 6 second to last paragraph where it states: The service does not facilitate international telephony activity and the customer shall not attempt to use the Service for the purpose of international telephony traffic Bypass [i.e. bringing in or sending out international telephone calls] nor for any other purpose prohibited by the Telecommunications Act of 1990.

It's pretty clear that bypass is prohibited in Guyana. The Telecommunications Act was passed when the Telephone company was privatized so this is a case of a private company prohibiting, through the Act, a long distance bypass and not a government monopoly.

If they block most of the ports, your screwed and nothing you can do.

If they are only blocking ports 5060 or 5061, there can be some luck.

FInd out the exact ports they are blocking and I can tell you if you are screwed or not.

Don't mention Voip or anything just ask if they block ports. and WHAT they are

Why would some country make it illegal to acces telephony services over the internet? How do they gain? It would make more sense to allow it and tax it.
