Here's my setup now with Adelphia Cable in Ventura, CA:

Cable Modem --> RT41p2 --> Phone/computers/WAP

Here's what it was up to a couple weeks ago:
Cable Modem --> SMC2304WBR-AG --> RT41p2 --> Phone
..........from the SMC I connected my computers.

So, for almost a year I have had NO problems what so ever. Life was good...I recommended this to everyone. Then a couple weeks ago, I started having a problem where when someone called:

a) I would pick up the phone and couldn't hear anyone, but they could hear me.
b) pickup the phone and it was dead...caller said the line went dead
c) before picking up the call, it would just hang up...and not even roll over to my vmail, but to the Vonage "stock" vmail.

Now, being a Linux user, I'm pretty patient with everything in life, but within 2 weeks, it started to really become a pain. People would call and I wouldn't hear the phone ring also. These problems were very common...not just here and there. I am experiencing these problems daily for the past 2+ weeks.

So, I figured it was my SMC router and I went down and bought a new Linksys router. After a week of the same thing, I took that off and setup my system according to the first description above. A couple days went by without a problem, and now I've got the same problems.

My download speed is about 3000 and my upload is about 850 via Adelphia Cable. I may no changes to my network for the past 8 months (prior to having these problems) and have UPSs on everything.

I have tried everything I can think of. I'm running out of options and my wife is starting to pressure me to get it fixed.

I have one question, if my phone is on the RT, do I still need to open ports? If so, what IP do I point them too?

Any other thoughts or suggestions would be great.

Tom

this is an issue related with the Vonage proxy so log on to ur web account and do some changes in your web account for a while and again change it as it was before make sure that u will save after doing those changes if u do some changes in the web account the device will get refreshed in their proxy if u power down and power on the router it will communicate only with the TFTP server and not with the proxy the web account is related with proxy so after doing these changes do a power cycle to ur router also and check after few minutes if it works mail me to sreevas.v@gmail.com so that i can help others also bye

Being a techie I have UNLIMITED patience. I have had problems with my ISP for MONTHS and i don't care, I am like whatever they will get it fixed. Not only as a VERY religious man to God, (i don't celebrate holidays or anything that has nothing to do with God you can guess what I am) . Also being the person I am, things don't bother me much so i am very different with the regular bunch.

If stuff like that happens after awhile, you need to go over things like:

1. Anything changed in your network.
2. Check your bandwidth
3. Check your latency your ping, tracerts everything.
4. Any security software
5. Any blocked ports

Little little things

Send me a PM with everything
