I spent 6+ hours on the linksys tech line trying to set up my port forwarding when I was diagnosed with "the port is simply not opening up" call Vonage and ask for a firmware upgrade! Can someone tell me if it's even possible? I've seen elsewhere that it's not a working option with the WRTP54G is this true?? HELP!!

Thanks!

Port forwarding works fine on the WRTP54G, at least it did for me when I used it as my primary router.

What firmware release are you on? Latest is 1.00.58 - I know for a fact that port forwarding worked fine in 1.00.55, I used it.

PS: Do you have "block anonymous internet requests" turned on? How are you trying to access your webcam? From a webserver or remote that is pulling the data? If so, you may need to allow aonoymous internet requets. Worth a try...

um, if they knew it was a Vonage issue, why would waste 6 hours on the phone trying to get it to work? Linksys sending you to Vonage after 6 hours is a pretty transparent desperation move. They make the router. What firmware version do you have running on your router right now anyway? what kind of cam do you have, what ports need to be opened, what website can we all see this cam on when it's hooked up anyway?

Thank you for your concern Wink

What firmware version do you have running on your router right now anyway? - Firmware Version: 1.00.58

what kind of cam do you have - it's actually a linksys camera too WVC11b,

what ports need to be opened - any port over 1024 is good, right now I have it set to 3500

what website can we all see this cam on when it's hooked up anyway - lol... it's a family site for my son, so they can watch him crawl and learn how to walk, okay so I know if I said something else you would be alot faster to respond Wink HELP!

I am trying for others to access my webcam with the wan ip... (not on my server, but remotely) and it's not working. It works fine locally, that's why I think it might be a port forwarding issue. I have turned off the block anonymous users... Can't think of what else to do

What kind of program do you use with the cam? I use my webcam thru an instant messenger (yahoo) and it works great, I never had to open any ports. You must need to have some kind of software client for the webcam, I mean even if I gave someone my WAN ip they are not just going to be able to see thru my cam.

easy solution - get yahoo messenger, make your family get it too. then you can do voice and webcam chat easily. Failing that, give me some more information about the software program that your webcam uses.

Don't say MS Netmeeting. You would be better off writing your own program.

Forgive me if I'm being too simplistic, no offense meant, just want to cover all bases. You say you can see the camera locally, but not remote via the net. To access locally, you likely need to go to http://192.168.1.115/ and you know that from elsewhere on the net that won't work and you need a totally different address, right?

The address from the internet will be the IP address provided by your ISP, and that's likely a dynamic address that may change somewhat randomly over time, which is why the DDNS service is discussed in Chapter 7 of the manual for the cam.

No offense taken Smile I did change the ip address locally, but yes that was the general idea... I do know that I need my WAN (internet) ip that is through my isp. I have a static ip set up with my isp, so that whouldn't be the problem. I understand though, most answers are easy though, "make sure that it's plugged in" Smile
