If you return a defective piece of equipment, make sure you keep your shipper's tracking number!!! Chances are, you will get charged for it, and the only way to get a refund is to have your shipper's tracking number!!!!!

This has been mentioned in a couple of other threads. Apparently, Vonage receiving is running behind trying to receive all the units. Unfortunately, they haven't extended the deadlines to accommodate their own delays, so this is causing headaches and really poor treatment of customers such as yourself, obviously. Not acceptable business practice, but I assume they at least refunded the amount when you pointed it out?

Agreed, you should not have had to...

Of course, whenever you send back an expensive piece of equipment, you should send it back, insured, and using a tracking-capable system, and of course you want to hold on to the tracking number.

Yes, only after driving into work, and getting the tracking number! If I had not kept the shipper's receipt, I would not have been given a refund!!! The unit was received by them on Dec. 2, there is no excuse for that kind of delay!!!! Unless there are a lot of unhappy customers, as myself, having to return equipment, which doesn't fix the poor quality service!!!

You are correct. They should not have messed up, and they should have reflected your return in time. They screwed up, no argument. But, from the sound of it, you called them and they apologized and reversed the charge, correct?

My only point is that your advice is valid for ANY time you send back an expensive piece of equipment - or anything of real value, for that matter. Expect that the shipper will lose it, or the recipient will not process it in time, and keep the tracking number very handy until you are sure they've received it and processed the return. Then hang on to the tracking number for some time after that.

I keep my shipping receipts in the same file cabinet drawer I keep all the manuals and paperwork for everything I buy. It takes me a while to find them, sometimes, cause it's a full drawer and only roughly organized by date, but I can get you the tracking number on a defective digital camera I returned 6 months ago. I'm sure it's somewhere around the manual for my Vonage WRTP54G. It was around the same timeframe. I may not be organized, but I'm thorough! Wink
