Count me in. I'm in the Atlanta area (678). My wife informed me this has been going on sporatically for a couple of weeks. Today was really bad. I called Vonage Technical support from an analog line. After being on hold for 30 minutes and getting through level 1 support, I was disconnected while they transfered to level 2 support. Called back and finally got to level 2. They did some update to my Linksys PAP. I think the level 2 tech tried to make an outgoing phone call from my adapter to my analog phone. He couldn't hear me, but I could hear him. He didn't call back. I got frustrated and had a beer. I'm back on hold now.

EDIT: Got in touch with Level 2 again and got disconnected again. Usually they are very professional. I got a real...well, you know. He was talking to me and the line just went dead. Looks like from the posts there are problems everywhere. Not really sure what to do. Aparently Vonage isn't posting that they are having problems.

Ryououki, I am (or was? hopefully) having the exact same problem as you, and I too am in Sacramento (on SureWest).

1. Sacramento, CA
2. SureWest Broadband - fiber to the home
3. Rated speeds are 20Mbps up and down - recent speed tests are close to that
4. My ISP doesn't use a "modem" -- it's a special fiber "gateway" made by Telesys
5. Linksys RT31P2
6. Fiber Gateway >> Linksys RT31P2 >> WRT55AGv2 >> PCs
7. Outbound calls -- I hear called party but called party can't hear me
8. My scores were 4.4, 3.7, 4.3, 4.3, and 4.2.

Problem may be resolved now though. See my thread on BroadbandReports.com.

This is a great forum!!

Yep, I'm also having this exact same problem. I've called in about it at least 3 times, but to absolutely no avail. They just tell me that everything is is fine and act like they've never heard of this problem before. From this board, it's obvious that it's NOT isolated.
Tonight I was able to place a few calls, and it seems to work okay for outgoing calls a couple times a month. But 95% of the time, I can only hear incoming calls.

Another interesting note: once connected, I can hang up and then pick up the phone again (or hit flash twice), and then the person I dialed can hear me. Unfortunately, this takes a few seconds, during which the caller thinks you're a crank caller and hangs up. :-/

I've tried absolutely everything I can to make it work, except using Click-2-Call, which (isn't it funny?) also isn't working lately, according to these boards. I've reset computer, reset DSL router, reset Vonage router, etc., etc., etc., ad nauseum.

This technology obviously has another decade to go before it can be deemed reliable. Thank God for mobile phones - if I had to rely on this Vonage service for my business, I'd be living in government housing eating ramen 3 times a day.

If anyone has a real, proven solution to this issue, PLEASE, for the love of God, post it! All I see on these forums is problems, but do the Vonage tech people ever read these messages???

Hello?

(Note: my avatar will denote my attitude toward Vonage and will be changed - if ever - once they fix the endless barrage of problems I've experienced since Day One....)

I heard from a Vonage rep that they are in the process of moving their headquarters. I heard from another rep that some of their servers were down intermittently over the weekend. Could be that these issues have contributed to poor call quality.

My cell service is so weak at my house (between one and zero bars) that it's not even usable inside my home...

I made another Vonage call this morning and it worked fine. Maybe this issue is behind us now... Rolling Eyes

The only thing behind us is Vonage and they didn't bring the vaseline. . .

The BS about them moving the headquarters and the problems being on OUR end is just that. . BS. They have SYSTEM WIDE issues and are NOT posting them nor admitting they have them.

I spent over an hour on the phone with a very nice getleman last night who diligently worked to troubleshoot the issues of audio dropping on calls. He was IM'ed by a Network Engineer and told to inform me that the was "nothing he could do", it was a "system wide issue" and that they "have a log from my TA" indicating it was a system wide issue. I truly felt bad for this CSR since he REALLY was trying to help. (The guy even called me BACK [I know, amazing] to get some further information to write a ticket up!)

They don't even give a rats a$$ about they're own employees ability to communicate (their Avaya PBX Voip phone system keeps dropping calls). . what in heavens name makes you think they're gonna give a damn about US???

This service provider should now be deemed a lack of service provider.

I'm tired of excuses, CSR's that just flat out lie to you and the lack of response to customer needs.

Hey Vonage. . keep ignoring your customers. .

THEY'LL GO AWAY.

Wow, that's really bad. They have a "Service Announcements" feature on the dashboard on Vonage.com -- they should put that information there and share the news with all their service reps.

I've had a similar problem. It turned out that my upload speed was VERY slow so I could hear okay but I couldn't be heard. I have Optimum Online and they restricted my upload speed. I had to call them to correct it.

I checked my speed by going to http://www.dslreports.com/stest.

I've had the same problem, along with long-delay local exchange calls ever since I installed Vonage. I have neighbors on the same
network as I'm on, using Time Warner Voip, with no problems!!!
A clear reliable telephone service is well worth an additional $10 / month!!!

I've had a similar problem with both incoming and outgoing calls. It used to happen sporadically, but it has become more and more prevalent in the past week or two.

I'll make a call, or receive a call, and I hear the other person, but they don't hear me. If we hang up and either of us call back (doesn't seem to matter which one calls back), the connection is fine. But this is getting quite frustrating; people have to call twice before they can reach me.

I have Optimum Online (in NJ) and the Linksys RT31P2 router.

I can't bear the thought of waiting on hold with Vonage "support" for hours on end. The last several times that I called, I was "disconnected" because - get this, they were having trouble with their phones! HA! Nice one.
Anyone have a solution for this problem? I feel like a walking advertisement for Verizon because I'm constantly answering the phone with "Can you hear me now?"...
