Just wondering if there is help for those of us who want to hire out the install, equipment selection, testing, line routing, etc. Sort of like a cable guy:) maybe he/she would be called a Vonage Vagabond? hahahahha.

Short answer is no, but I am sure that you can find a telephone technician, and or electrician to come and assist you! Otherwise, if you know the basics about electronics, and are a do-it-yourselfer, you can do the install yourself!

The short answer is, actually, it depends on where you live.

Vonage started a [http://www.vonage.com/help.php?category=91&nav=3]professional installer[/url] program in NJ/NY. They say they are rolling it out nationwide.

In addition you may be able to find a local reseller that will sell you installation service in addition to signing you up for Vonage.

Finally you could probably call a firm like Geek Squad or Geeks on Call to assist with problems.

Really Vonage is so simple that even a novice user can install Vonage

I got a tip

If you are running Vonage on cable:

(1)Take ethernet cord from cable modem into the internet port. It will have internet labeled on top of the port

(2)Hook up any phone cable that hooks up your phone into your phone port (Phone1). The phone port is smaller then the ethernet port.

(3)Wait for the dial tone and your done.

I'm available, for $40 an hour (including drive time) plus mileage, one hour billable minimum, alternatively payable partially in beer or used computer equipment, other trades negotiable, any weekend I have time.

My range is limited to the northern New England (Maine, New Hampshire, northern MA) area. I live 30 minutes north of Portland, ME, to give you an idea of drive time. Warranty limited to quality of Internet connection.

Many years experience as a computer guy, 6 months experience with Vonage. If you want working QoS and a solid Internet connection as well as working Vonage, contact me for what equipment to buy.

We should start an underground "unofficial" Vonage installation group here, where anyone interested and qualified picks a few ZIP codes and offers support. Man, that would be kinda cool. Very Happy

See alot of boxes of cat5 cables at work laying in one of the units. Been wanting to "Borrow" one to rewire my house. Kinda hard though to sneak one of those out. Especially wearing a fire sprinkler company shirt. I would think they would wonder why I was walking off with that Very Happy
