I am a newbie when it comes to networking. I have a DSL Modem that I have connected to Linksys Phone Adapter RTP-300. From the adapter I have another ethernet connection to the computer. Without the Vonage Phone adapter, my internet connection works just fine. When i include the Vonage phone adapater, I get a message saying " Network cable is unplugged" for my Local Area Connection. I do not have internet access. My LAN properties (TCP/IP) has a static address manually confirured. It does not have Dynamic address. Can someone help me out how to over come this issue?
Thanks

uh, enable dhcp or "obtain ip automatically" on your computer (tcp/ip properties). that's the fastest and easiest way. |

The Network cable unplugged message sounds like you've got either a bad cable or more than likely, the wrong type of ethernet (crossover vs. straight-through) cable. Try swapping the cables and see if you are able to get the unplugged message to go away. If it does, head over to the store & buy another ethernet cable.
Also, you will need to run DHCP (Obtain Address automatically) to get the computer to properly talk with the router. |

Are you saying that your DSL requires static addressing? If so, that's the way your computer was configured. Now you'll have to configure the RTP300 with the static address, then enable the RTP as a DHCP server for the rest of your network. Then re-configure your computer to accept dynamic addressing from the RTP. |
