PostPosted: Sat Dec 17, 2005 1:54 pm    Post subject: Anyone Else Ticked About Loss of Incoming Calls in Chicago? Reply with quote Back to top

I lost incoming calls yesterday. Callers from non-Vonage phones get a "number not in service" message.

I have not had incoming service for 27 hours now. How nice!

After wasting time rebooting routers and what not yesterday with Vonage service (even while I explained that there was no way that the problem could be on my end because the calls were not routing over to my backup line (e.g. cell phone); they kicked it up to the engineers.

Now I note that Vonagage has posted a service alert saying that just about every area code in Chicago (847,630,773, 708) has a problem and that they're working on it.

Seems like a big deal to me to lose service for an entire metropolitan area for days (not hours, days).

They should fire whomever is responsible.

Anyone else having problems?

I called to get an update:

1) The service rep was unaware of their own system wide announcement, which was posted on the forum site and the main Vonage account management site;

2) had no update for me in terms of status; was very nice about offering to find out more details;

3) then accidentally hung up on me when he went to go find out;

I am now debating whether to waste another 25 minutes on hold.

Certainly not very good customer service. Smile

Another 30 minute wait, finally connect to another nice service rep (they're all pretty nice).

He was so nice he shared right away that they are having a terrible day with two things:

1) their phone system (I think that's hilarious);
2) their server, which keeps crashing.

The phone system to which he referred was not the Vonage system globally but the phone system in their customer service area. AND, everytime the server crashes it disconnects their calls.

There must be some pretty ticked off customers today, that's for sure.

It makes sense now why the Rep last night had me call my own Vonage line from my cell phone because he said he was having problems with their Verizon land-line phones.

What a mess!

In any event, this guy said that the "official word" is that the engineers hope to have the "Illinois situation" fixed by late tonight.

We shall see. Smile

I'm in the affected area, and I am getting phone calls. What is not happening is these calls showing up on the dashboard list of received calls.

Aslo, no one has called my cell to indicate that calls aren't getting thru.

I have sent 3 emails since Friday and have received no answers. My phone line has been down since Friday and still is not working. (630 area code)

I do not understand how an outage like this goes undetected for so long and then no response. I am in the process of sitting on the phone with "CUSTOMER SERVICE" to figure out what is wrong.

I have been a Vonage customer for 4 months and the past 3 weeks my phone service keeps going down. No change of phones or router settings.

I have to agree the person that is responsible for this major outage needs to be relocated to another position and not responsible for maintaining the company network systems.

I have not had Vonage service in my house since Friday morning (Day 4 now). I have emailed and called (hung up on every time).

Before I start the conversation I asked them to call me if we get disconnected because their system keeps disconnecting me. One time out of 7 I actually received a call. I made 2 calls this morning and both resulting in being disconnected with no call back. Does anyone have a number to Vonage that will be able to help me with my situation? I am frustrated and really want to leave Vonage since they do not seem to be concerned with the fact that my phoneline has been out of service for now 4 days.

It is now Monday and still nothing fixed. I am not pleased with Vonages customer service since it is apparent the reps first language is not english. I do not like speaking with someone that does not understand english!

Do they not have to abide by the 99.999% reliability other phone companies have too? Unless a miracle happens, I will leave Vonage and notify as many people as I can of my situation.
