Greetings,
I live in Park Slope, Brooklyn with 4 room mates and my 9 year old daughter. To make things livable I have installed a 2 line Panasonic telephone system, KX-TG 2200B, with 4 wireless handsets (it will work with up to 8 ). The system is perfectly suited to our needs, the main phone is the base station and acts as a switcher. It intercepts incoming calls and after pressing a key combination, will then only ring the hand set of the person you wish to speak to. Each handset has it's own, private, voice mailbox and the ability to forward calls and conference call (due to the fact there are two phone lines). I currently pay Verizon for unlimited local and long distance service, the "freedom plan" on the line we use mainly to call out on, and, the other line, which we mainly use as our in-coming line, has basic service. The total cost for both bills combined ends up being around $110, with another $30/month for DSL.
Is it possible that Vonage could provide 2 lines of service for a competitive rate? Is my DSL fast enough for 2 lines of service? I am not interested in cable modem in my area, I had it and it was down as often as not, too many subscribers in the area.
