Anyone tried the Viking RG-10A Ring Booster?

Run the line out of your Vonage adapter to a modem and then the line out of the modem to your home wiring. Most modems add enough power to ring all the phones. Just make sure to disable the autoanswer on your modem!

OK, you're using the right kind of cord. Did you try unplugging everything except one phone from the jacks? Results?

I'm using a RJ11 phone cable with only [b:12a0a5cd52]two conductors [/b:12a0a5cd52]from the adapter to the wall jack as well as from the phone to the wall jack. What's weird is that I have dialtone and can make incoming/outgoing calls for at least an hour and then it goes to a fast busy signal like the phone is in use. I have tried different phones. Corded and cordless. I had phones connected to the inside wiring for 2 years with no issues.

Your first step should be to unplug [u:737e0be3fd]everything[/u:737e0be3fd] from all the phone jacks in the house, except the Vonage adapter and one telephone that you know works when it's plugged directly into the adapter. Also, make sure that you're using a cheap cord to connect the adapter to the jack- one with only two conductors and not the full four. Check by looking at the contacts on the plastic plug. There should only be two- not four. How does it work when you do those things?

When I connect my phone to the V-Portal phone adapter I have dialtone, can make incoming/outgoing calls (No issues).
But when I connect the V-Portal phone adapter to a phone jack and then my phone to the same or different wall jack it works only for a few minutes. I can make outgoing calls/ receive incoming calls but then it goes to a fast busy signal. If I unplug the phone wire from the wall jack for a few seconds the dialtone is restored but only for a couple of minutes. Then back to a fast busy signal. I really want to utilize the inside wiring. And yes I disconnected the wires from the NID. Any suggestions?

How to connect to PBX Lucent/Avaya Partner Plus System

I have used Vonage for several years with a Panasonic KXT-1232 office PBX system. I have seen it used with other small PBX systems similar to the Lucent Partner.

The phone jacks on the Vonage adapter provide a standard loop-start central office line to whatever is plugged in. If your Partner system is currently connected to loop-start central office lines, then it will work if connected to Vonage. If your Partner is connected to ground-start central office lines (sometimes called PBX trunks) then it will not work unless you re-configure the Partner to work with loop-start lines.

If you are not sure, get yourself a standard single-line analog telephone set (not a Partner multi-button set). Temporarily plug it in to one of your central office lines in place of your Partner system. Pick up the handset. If you get a dial tone, you have loop-start lines. If you don't, you probably have ground-start lines and your Partner will need to be re-configured.

Solution to the "Line 1 Wiring Error
"

I saw a long string of posts for the "Line 1 Wiring Error
" on the vPortal. I had the same problem, and it baffled me. I tried $10 phones from Wallmart and it all worked, with high end phones like the Polycom 2-line Soundpoint Pro it gave me the error. I tried a new cable, short cable, long cable, etc. And before it was connected to a Cisco ATA 186 and it worked fine. I decided to install a DSL filter (those that you get when you receive your DSL modem), but the "phone" side I connected to the vPortal, and the "line" side to the SoundPoint phone. Now it works, the "Line 1 Wiring Error
" error message is gone. I guess the filter will filter out noise and EMI signals, and also provide a bit of a resistive load on the line. Give it a shot if you are stuck with the "Line 1 Wiring Error
" error. Cheers, Xandi

It really depends on how comfortable you are with testing your PBX. It has been a really long time since I've done anything with them but I'll try to help out. Back in the Merlin days... on the main board you had inputs from your teleco. To test with your PBX you would simply unplug the RJ-11 from the telco and plug in the RJ-11 from vonage and test the line by dialing out.

I don't think Vonage will help you out because they say on their website they don't support PBX's. So you're really on your own.

My advice would be to consult with the people at Vonage who deal with commercial accounts. What you're describing is too important to rely on information coming from this venue.

Hello People
I am thinking of purchasing Vonage but I need to find out if it will work with my pre existing system in my office.

I have the following:

LUCENT Partner PLUS PBX SYSTEM
[B]

Analog AVAYA phones

COX INTERNET CABLE: 2 MEG UP & 2 MEG DOWN

Current configuration:

COX Cable Box----------->D-link Switch-------->Netgear Router

Now I want to use Vonage by connecting it to my analog phones and fax machine.

My questions is what do I need to do to make sure the integration with the Lucent PBX series is successful with Vonage?

How would I be able to display the phone ID on the lcd display on my analog phones?

Please need your advise and help urgently.

thanks
Tim
