<title>porting only fax line from vonage to myfax</title>

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody has had success with porting only their fax number to an efax provider while keeping their vonage voice number.
Both the vonage numbers I have were from vonage itself and now I want to port my fax number to myfax.com (myfax claims they can port the fax number. efax.com says they cant)

Wondering if someone has done this before and it is possible.

thanks,
Harry

Several years ago I ported a number to Vonage from Comcast but quickly switched to AT&amp;amp;T due to poor voice quality. Although Comcast has superior download speed, many have voice issues becuase of the way they transmit their packets. I ended up losing my phone number because Comcast uses some numbers that are not land-line comaptible. AT&amp;amp;T didn't tell me this till it was too late and the number was lost. BTW I am back with Vonage because I now have DSL and the sound quality is excellent.

<title>Can I port additional numbers to my vonage account</title>

You can add additional numbers to your Vonage account, either by porting existing numbers as you describe, or by having Vonage assign new ones. These additional numbers may be virtual numbers or physical numbers. Each physical number gets assigned to its own phone port on a Vonage device (you'll need additional devices if you end up with more than two numbers). Each physical number results in an additional monthly charge of $24.95 (for unlimited residence service). You can have separate calls simultaneously on separate physical numbers (assuming that you have enough Internet bandwidth).

You can have virtual numbers associated with your existing physical number. These are numbers which are routed to your physical number. They don't require additional ports; they do not support additional simultaneous calls, and they are a lot less expensive than physical lines.

Check these features (additional lines, virtual numbers) on the Vonage web page.

I would like to move my two cell numbers from ATT to Vonage. Can these be added to my existing account, and does that change the monthly fee?

Once you get the telephone adapter (TA) from vonage and set it up. In the number port process you'll get a temporary vitual number while the port process moves forward. This can take up to 10 days if all goes well.
To make the process transparent, log into your comcast account and set calls to forward to the temporary virtual number ( I think this can also be accomplished using #70 on the comcast service.) Move the phone cord from the cable modem to the vonage TA. Calls to your number will forward to the virtual temporary number. When the port completes the number will fall off of your comcast account and calls to your number will continue to ring on the vonage service. The voice portion of your comcast bill should fall off of your comcast bill.

Comcast will close the line when the port completes.
Yes, Vonage will do that for you.
Yes, you can still have Comcast for your internet service as Vonage does not supply internet services.

Thanks. I called, and the account was still open.

They said they hadn't received verification from the new provider to close the account... Yet the port is done and I've been using the number on another phone.

Anyway, its a done deal now. I like Vonage a lot, just had to consolidate to a single phone.
