Hi everyone, first vonage tells me that that i need to get dsl dryloop. Which i did, i provided them with the confirmation number and the transaction date. Then few days later send me an email saying my transfer has been canceled because the phone company has discounted my number, which wasn't and vonage fixed that. Then they tell me that ATT have don't have the same number i provided them with, and i got that fixed. NOW, 3rd time my number transfer has been cancled and att disconted my number too  .So vonage tells me that i need to call att and reactivate my number. Now i call ATT, they tell me that, they are going to disconet my &quot;dry loop&quot; to re active my number and going to give me dsl with landline :x  and that means i will be going to the same process again. My friends tell me to tell att that i only need &quot;dial tone&quot;, i dont what that is. He says that for that they only charge $6 month. I really dont know what to do, any little help will be appreciated.
Thank You in advance

<title>Porting from Sprint wireless to Vonage</title>

Back in October I ported a cell phone line which had been our home phone under cable service over to Vonage. Two months later Sprint is still charging the line and states that Vonage never requested the port. Vonage reported that the port was complete in October and our phone has been receiving calls on that number through Vonage. Sprint tells me that Vonage must call their port department to request the transfer but I keep telling Sprint that Vonage already did that and now has the number - HELLO. I have now made 3 calls to customer service and 1 call to their port department with told today that the number will be stricken from their service and after examining my record will contact me with status and credit evaluation of my bill.

Of note though, Vonage told me they would NOT call Sprint and said that they do not call carriers to port numbers - I don't understand this since I had to give them permission to have my number transferred to them so they HAD to go to the carrier for that. This has been a nightmare and I hope I do not regret moving to Vonage (so far we really like the service).

Any comments or suggestions will be much appreciated.

<title>AT&amp;amp;amp;T Wireless to vonage number transfer problem</title>

Unlike the 2 year old post quoted below, I have always had an extremely helpful Port Tech at Vonage.

My problem is (as briefly as possible) that Net10 ported my Vonage number instead of my Verizon number back in October, 2011.

I have spent approximately 12 hours on the phone (mostly) with a very nice guy named &quot;Chris&quot;[/color:38e0c3bf97] from Vonage and multiple persons at Net10 in at least 6 different attempts to get the number back from Net10 and active on my Vonage account and it still hasn't happened!

On 11/22 &quot;Chris&quot; called and I was not available and when I called back I spoke with Advanced Tech &quot;Anton&quot; who indicated that he found a technicality that should fix the problem and that I would get another call &quot;in a couple of days&quot; and that hasn't happened.

[b:38e0c3bf97]So, my question is, should I file a case (or whatever they call it) with the FCC?[/b:38e0c3bf97][/color:38e0c3bf97]

Again, unlike the person that posted in 2009, I promise to come back to the Forum when (IF) the port does or doesn't take place.

<blockquote>I cannot help you at all, howeve I have been going through the same issue. My problem started on October 10 and I am porting a number from Net10. Vonage has told me that they have submitted the transfer request several times. Everytime they submit it to Net10 they have been informed that some bit of information does not match their records. Vonage then contacts me via email and informs me that the information that I gave them was incorrect and that it needs to be reviewed. Each time that I do this I have to correct the information that I gave them correctly the first time that they somehow messed up. Yesterday during a weekly 2 hour round robin jaunt with their alledged customer service department I asked to speak with a supervisor. The girl asked why and I told her because of the portability issue. Once the supervisor got on the phone he was very rude and snippy with me. No way to do business! And on top of all of that I was supposed to receive 2 free months. Wouldn't you know it they billed me for the service for this month yesterday. I have already submitted a claim to the FCC regarding this and I am currently looking for another provider.</blockquote>

I'd like to know how this turns out.

Someone I know wants a business line and will be putting it on all their printed collateral-- business cards, letterhead, brochures, advertising copy, etc.

He's concerned if he becomes unhappy with Vonage, that he won't be able to port that number to another provider-- forcing him to either stay with Vonage or lose the number.

As long as the number is in the market area of the company you are porting to, make sure you are giving the porting company EVERYTHING. Account number, account holder's name, address. It would be best if you could send the porting company a copy of your latest bill. It should be no problem porting out.
If Vonage refuses to release, contact FCC.

I'm interested in the answer to this as I just had this very same thing happen yesterday. Vonage ported it in, and it was my number. I don't think they should be able to hold it.

<title>Swapping (a previously Ported) Number To Cell &amp;amp;amp; VicaVers</title>

Hi I'm wondering if anyone here can give me a definitive answer before I go through the rigermaroll of actually trying to get this done.

Ive been getting conflicting stories about whether or not I can do this. We want to swap our Vonage number to my cell phone and my cell phone number to Vonage. This would just work so much better for us. But I hear that because my current (and only) Vonage number was ported from another service, that it cant be done. We have been Vonage customers for many years and dont plan on leaving, unlike a lot of people on the internet, our service has been pretty good. We just want to swap our number. The Vonage number we use is a very old number from (currently) Verizon. My Wife has had this number since she was a child. When we signed up for Vonage, she has the number ported from the Verizon land-line. The thing is that we both us this Vonage line and it would just be easier on both of us if the line had an independent number then from her childhood. So we want to swap my cell number for the Vonage number.

From what we have heard, it is possible to do, BUT because the area code of this (now) Vonage number (manhattan) does not match the area code of the billing address of our cell phone service (brooklyn), they cant touch the number. Is this true? Has anyone ever done this or know if it is in fact or just a myth?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

<title>Port my Vonage number to Google Voice but keep Vonage</title>

I did pretty much what the op is wanting to do. To achieve it you need to port your Vonage number to a pay as you go non contract cell - I happened to have one laying around and so just got a free sim from AT&amp;amp;T, put $15 credit on it and then had them port the number. After things settled down - about 10 days- I ported the number to Google and then pointed it back at my new Vonage number

Google Voice currently will only port cellular phone numbers. So unless you ported a cell number into Vonage, this likely won't work.
