Since no one charmed in, I decided to test both devices for myself. The HBB1 works, but the WRTSL54GS is much better once upgraded to HyperWRT Thibor firmware.

the vonage router is plugged into the wireless router.
the dsl modem is also plugged into the wireless router.
there is no jack available on the DSL modem to plug the vonage router in direectly.
