1) This constant disconnect isn't just ssh sessions, but it's also IM sessions too. I'll suddenly loose all persistant tcp/ip connections.

If you don't need any of the vpn pass through enabled, disable all those under the security tab. This seems to have fixed the hanging ssh (also imaps) connections.
