I have mine setup as :

Internet -> Cable/DSL Modem ->BEFW11S4 -> RT31P2

And have never had a problem.

Made no changes.......plug n play.

Try turning off your firewall.

Just picked up a Replaytv Showstopper.
I tried to connect about 30 times........all different modem speeds.
Finally *99,*70 connected.
I'm now connecting every time at the highest modem speed.

Mine was like this also..........
I left the wires connected to the screw terminals and cut the red and green wire on the telco side going to that swing box.

Mine has 3 wires on each terminal.

Make sure that you disable the old nic in the Device Manager....Reboot.
Check Device Manager to confirm it's not enabled.
Shut down install new card from scratch........Boot.
