I know it will cost you more money but why don't you buy one of the new Vonage hand held mobile phones! It will connect to any unsecured wireless network it finds. (as far as I know!)

I also have the Telewest 10MB service. I play Everquest 2 at the same time as my wife/kids use the phone and have no problems at all. I also had no problems when I was using the 4MB service.
