can you even make calls out? If not, that means your device has no connectivity to Vonage network, and that explains the instant voicemail pickup.

Sometimes it rings more than once, but mostly it rings onec and goes to the vonage answering machine.

How do I stop this?

let me clear up some confusion, as I said I updated firmware for router not the pap2. My pap2 runs off of my linksys router.

Sledg Hammer - fixed it for good.

Opened some ports
Reduced sound quality to the mid setting rather than high.

My setup is a Linksys PAP2 connected to a Linksys wireless B router conected to a Terayon TJ715x Modum conected to Cox cable internet service.
