im not sure exactly but if its not something exclusive to comcast, then it should work but i think rewireing is the best way if its not that big of a hassle.

you can try to get into your 5120 and try to disable that feature if its even in there. i think the ip address of the modem is 192.168.100.1

have you tried to connect your computer directly to the modem to make sure its the router that is the problem?

who is your ISP and are you having other problems with your internet in general?

did comcast replace the modem? if so, did they give you a new one or a refurbished one. if so, it could be the modem. i dont trust refurbished modems. you never know.
