| Well, someone from Vonage phoned back last night and said that the issue had been resolved. Tested it out by disabling international calling, and it does appear to be working correctly again now. |

The solution for me was to set the bandwidth saver (log in to your account on the vonage site and look under features) to the highest sound quality 90kbps. |
