Is there a way to get a weeklong or so trial of Vonage with a temporary number so I can see how it works with my Comcast Cable before porting my number and canceling my Verizon

When I cancel my Verizon after starting my Vonage and porting my Verizon Number that i've had for thirty years will Verizon come and remove the NID from the side of my house?
