Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

June 23, 2008

Welcome to the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

Vonage Tips
With summer here, you'll probably be outside more doing activities such as swimming, biking, hiking, or travelling. As such, when you return to your home you'll probably be a little more tired. nothing like an afternoon nap I always say. But how to prevent calls coming in at the most inopportune time? Well, one of the most popular Vonage features is Do Not Disturb (DND). Simply dial *78 from your Vonage phone to turn on Do Not Disturb and *79 to turn it off. If you forget star codes easily, setup speed-dial 1 and speed-dial 2 on your phone for DND on & off.

Say, did you know you can save 20% on your Vonage phone bill with a special reduced yealy rate of only $239.99? That's a savings of over $59/year. All you have to do is choose to pay one annual rate instead of a monthly fee. Not sure if this applies to new customers only.

In the Forums
A poster in the forums asks "Anybody knows how to config Vonage on 3rd party SIP phone?" Wouldn't that be great to use a Cisco, Aastra, Polycom or other SIP brand IP phones with Vonage? There are some cool WiFi SIP phones, including the snom M3 that would be great if they worked with Vonage. Well, the thread starts off with a "definitive no" you can't do it since Vonage doesn't give you your SIP credentials (username + password). But another poster, DougK accurately explains you CAN use SIP phones via a workaround. You need to buy the Vonage softphone, which will give you your full SIP credentials (username, password, SIP registrar server). It'll cost you $9.99/month extra for the SoftPhone Plan. You get 500 minutes of US nationwide long distance and calls to Canada every month. Only 3.9ў per minute after the first 500 monthly minutes.

In the News
Halogen Software, a provider of software-based employee performance and talent management applications, today announced that Vonage is one of their customers. Strategic HR functions such as employee performance management, compensation and succession planning, are integrated with their traditional HR Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)-based employee data using Halogen's recently launched HRIS Connect tool. Providing great customer service requires not only hiring the right people, but keeping the right people. Vonage's HR managers can use the Halogen tool to help reduce employee churn, plan for future growth, and manage all the complexities involved with human resources (HR).

Vonage Stock Report

Today, Vonage is currently trading at $1.76 (-$0.04) and closed Friday at $1.87 or 2 cents higher from Friday's close.
