Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

March 7, 2008

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage Voip Forum Digest..

As for today, we are going to go straight to two Vonage Forum threads, one about the Vonage V-Portal, and another thread that has to do with a Vonage virtual number a Vonage user is trying to figure out where it came from. Then we'll check on Vonage's stock price.

On The Vonage Voip Forum

Vonage Forum Member pkingk has brought up a new Vonage Forum thread with a title of, V-Portal error message in the dialtone background?.

"I just bought a Vonage connection with the V-Portal router for my girlfriend who has moved to Switzerland. Her current setup is: ISP Modem (which includes a wifi router) -> V-Portal -> Phone However, it's been impossible to get it to work," pkingk writes. "First, there would be numerous error messages on the V-Portal screen indicating "wrong phone line". After 10+ hours on the phone with Vonage Support, they've got it down to getting a dialtone at least on the phone.

"But now, there's a constant message in the background with a voice going "Phone may be plugged into the incorrect phone port. please try the other port" and then a busy tone - All the while, we can talk in the foreground," he adds. "Error code 007 is displayed on the V-Portal screen. The ISP modem's firewall has been shut off, all connecting wires have been double-checked etc.. Vonage appears to be completely baffled, and we are getting frustrated since every day we cannot have a conversation and are shelling out money for the service. Does any one have suggestions/ideas to resolve this? All help would be appreciated! Thanks, PK."

Replying with suggestion is fellow Vonage Forum Member trekologer.

"Take a look at the telephone cord you are using and make sure that it has only two pins in the connector, and not 4," trekologer suggests to pkingk. "If it has 4, switch to a different telephone cord and try again."

Let's now go to Vonage Forum Member jfitpa503's new post, which he has decided to call, Virtual # just showed up

"Something weird happened recently. It all started when someone here had to dial 911," jfitpa503 writes in the opening post in this thread. "After that call, a new virtual # has been showing in my account ever since then. I have not tried to call it yet, and not sure if I should cancel it or keep waiting for it to disappear. Any thoughts?"

"Has your bill increased yet?," replies roscopco, one of our most knowledgeable and helpful Vonage Forum Members. "You can view your bill online, I would play it safe and call Vonage and let them know, sooner or later they will see it and then charge you for it, maybe even back date the charges."

And I see here that Vonage Forum Member tophtml has added this useful tip to this thread.

"Just as an FYI, I have always had a virtual number that is only visible in the drop-down box on the activity tab," he writes. "It is the interim number that Vonage assigned to me while I was awaiting the porting of my Verizon Telephone Number. Since it is not visible anywhere else, including the billing tab, perhaps it is a number that is necessary to make the porting of an existing number from another carrier possible. I've never been charged for it though."

Vonage Stock Report

On Friday, Vonage stock closed at $1.91 a share, which is a five cent climb  (+2.69 %) from Thursday's $1.86 a share close.  But then again, today's closing Vonage price was eight cents higher than today's lowest  price, which was $1.83 a share .At the close of today's trading, Vonage shares had managed to be calculated to have been 369,964 shares.

That's what's hot about Vonage today. Check with us for our next edition of the Vonage Voip Forum Digest.
