Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

September 28, 2007

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage Voip Forum Digest.

I can't say it hasn't been a busy week for Vonage, but being that it is Friday there isn't much Vonage news breaking today. So on account of that let's go straight to two Vonage Forum threads, one largely about router set-up issues, and the other thread has to do with Vonage adapter provisioning issues.  We'll also check in on Vonage's stock price.

On The Vonage Voip Forum

New Vonage Forum Member yugioh has opened a new Vonage Forum thread which he has entitled, New customer - Have two problems.

"Problem-1: The sound on the other end is breaking. My end the sound is ok," yugioh writes.

"Problem-2: I have two routers at home - one is F5D7230-4 (Belkin), and the other is WRT-150N (linksys)," he adds. "I have connected to the Belkin router, and have the sound problem ( breaking sound at other end). Now the MotorolaVT2442-VD will not work with my linksys. Is there anyway I can make it work with my linksys - may be it will fix my sound problem."

Then he lists some details of his set-up which are:

1) Belkin F5D7230-4 router connected to DSL
2) Motorola VT2442-VD connected to Belkin router
3) Panasonic KX-TG6051S phone connected to line-1 on Motorola.

Fellow Vonage Forum Member roscopco offers this in reply:

"Why do you require to use another router? Vonage adapter is a router," roscopco points out. "If you do require the use of the other routers make sure the Vonage router is at the end of the equation."

New device... not provisioned is a new Vonage Forum thread that has been launched by Vonage Forum Member maynard001.

"I'm getting fed-up with this. my Linksys RTP300 died on Monday," maynard001 writes. "I spoke to a rep and they said they would send me a new device. On the shipment confirmation that they sent me it said they were sending a refurbished RTP300."

"I got my box today...and it turns out to be a Motorola VT2142 phone adaptor. This is fine because I already have a wireless router...all I really need is a phone adaptor," he adds.

"So...I get everything connected and my phone service won't come up. I call Vonage and they tell me "Your new device isn't provisioned will take 72 hours until it is working". So, I wait 4 days for a new I have to wait 3 more while they provision the new device? Am I nuts in thinking this is ridiculous? Couldn't they have done this ahead of time?,"maynard001 asks.

This post draws a comment from one of our most active Vonage Forum Members of late. I am referring to tglea.

"Devices from Vonage should come already provisioned. Looks like somebody made a mistake," tglea points out to maynard001. Then he suggests that maynard001 call Vonage up "and ask for a free month of service. You may have to threaten to cancel and talk with a retention rep. They have been in a giving mood lately!"

Vonage Stock Report

Today on the New York Stock Exchange, Vonage stock trading seems to be rebounding from declines caused  by this week's patent decisions. Vonage stock closed at $1.03  a share, up four cents (+4.04%)  from Thursday's 99 cents a share close but then again, that closing price was six cents higher than today's lowest Vonage stock price and that was 97 cents a share. Reflecting a busy pace of trading, total Vonage shares traded on today attained a total of 1,281,154 shares.

Once again, our Vonage Stock Forum can be reached from this link.

That's what's hot about Vonage today. Check with us Monday for our next edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.
