Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage Voip Forum Digest.

First, let's catch up on what Vonage, the company, is doing with its visual voicemail service and also what Vonage has planned for this Thursday morning. Then we'll go straight to two interesting Vonage Forum threads, one about hooking up equipment necessary for Vonage calls, and then there's another thread I am going to write about here and it is about what sounds like a problem with an adapter.  Finally, we'll update Vonage's stock price.

In The News

Vonage Adds New Features To Visual Voicemail


Vonage says it will add some new features to its visual voicemail service which was introduced in May.


The visual voicemail service transcribes Vonage voicemails into text that can be automatically emailed to a subscriber. Vonage now says the service will also include the ability to send emails to up to five addresses simultaneously and the ability to send a message transcript to a cellphone via text message.


The service costs Vonage customers $.25 per voicemail, and messaging fees apply.

Vonage Quarterly Earnings Event This Thursday

Vonage will report its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2007 on Thursday of this week. The earnings release will be available on Vonage's Investor Relations website at

Management will host a webcast discussion of the quarter's results on Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. To participate, please dial (800) 810-0924 approximately ten minutes prior to the call. International callers should dial (913) 981-4900. A replay will be available approximately two hours after the conclusion of the call until midnight August 23, 2007, and may be accessed by dialing (888) 203-1112. The webcast will be broadcast live through Vonage's Investor Relations website at Windows Media Player or RealPlayer is required to listen to this webcast. A replay will be available shortly after the live webcast and will be available for two weeks.

On The Vonage Voip Forum

New Vonage Forum Member and new Vonage user RTHaacke opens a thread that he decides to entitle, new user, have a question.

"I installed everything properly (we have the VT2442) and one of the phones works fine," he writes. "My second phone that is hooked up doesn't work at all, the light isn't even on. How do I fix it so that I can use both phones?"

Fellow Vonage Forum Member Darrell_G picks up on this post and then asked:

"Did you purchase one phone line or two phone lines? The second phone port light will not illuminate if it's not activated to work."

RTHaacke follows up:

"Okay, I think just one because we just got whatever came with the 24.99 a month plan," RTHaacke writes. "So I can't use two phones unless I buy another line? Aww, that **** I'm so used to just being able to hook as many phones needed and no extra charges. Thanks for the info."

But wait, we aren't done yet. Here comes roscopco with some advice:

"You hook your other phones into the phone jacks that are in the walls, make sure you disconnect them first," roscopco advises. "The second jack is for another phone line with its own number," roscopco then advised..

"If you have a cordless phone system, you can use as many phones as the cordless phone system can handle," Darrell_G responded. "You would connect the base unit of the cordless system to phone port 1 on the back of the VT2442 and then place additional handsets throughout your home. The additional handsets just need to be plugged into a power outlet. I have a cordless system set up this way and can place up to 7 additional handsets through out my home

After being thanked by RTHaacke, roscopco made another post pointing to a source of more information about this issue.

"Here is the link how to home wire, very simple stuff," roscopco writes. "I have the 3 hand set phone also, since I didn't want to keep a phone where I have my Vonage router I went to my telephone box and unplugged the jack and removed the wire inside, a 2 minute job.

Because Vonage Forum Member jrsshore seems to be experiencing adapter issues, he's decided to start a Vonage Forum thread to get some answers. The thread is called, VT 1005 receiver dead air caller hears ringing go on.

He asks if anyone has heard of the following: person has vta1005 I call and it rings at his end and he picks up and hears dead air but I keep hearing it ring until I get 'number not available' IVR..... his vta1005 then starts to get power light blinking...............has happened when he was on cable and now when on (DSL) it goes right to (the) modem..........have already changed phones and wires four times."

Fellow Vonage Forum Member Blackjack thinks he knows what the problem might be.

"Try resetting the device:" Blackjack advises. "But if the router dies on every incoming call it would seem as if it's time to get a replacement device."

Vonage Stock Report

Today  on the New York Stock Exchange,  Vonage stock closed at $2.10 a share, which was a big rise of  16 cents (+8.25%) from Monday's closing price of $1.94 a share, and a huge leap of 30 cents over the day's lowest price, which was $1.80 a share. Total Vonage shares traded on Tuesday amounted to 2,811,100 shares.
