Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage Voip Forum Digest.
In the news, we'll understand what it means when we say "Vonage
Is Off To The Races." Then we'll
go straight to
two Vonage Forum threads, both router-related. Finally, we'll update Vonage's stock price.
In The News
Vonage Is "Off To The Races"
Vonage is sponsoring a thoroughbred horse race on August 5. And not
just any horse race.
The Asbury Park Times writes that the 2007 running of Monmouth Park's
$1 million Haskell Invitational Presented by Vonage promises to be one
of the best ever, with Preakness winner Curlin, Kentucky Derby runner-up
Hard Spun and the undefeated Cable Boy heading the field.
Setting
up Vonage with wireless modem and HughesNet is a new Vonage Forum
thread that "happens" to have been started by Vonage Forum
Member Hap.
Hap writes:
"I know, it is probably fruitless judging by other posts on
HughesNet. But I am setting up a Vonage Mdl VT2142-VD modem with
wireless router and HughesNet. Vonage's Quick Start kit shows how to
connect to (1) a cable modem, or (2) a cable modem and router. I have a
wireless router communicating with a HughesNet modem in a mechanical
closet."
Next, Hap asks two questions:
1. How do I connect the VT2142-VD to the router? Similar to the cable
modem and router option in Quick Start book? 2. After connecting the
VT2142-VD somehow to the wireless router, can I then connect the
VT2142-VD to a wall telephone jack and have other phones work on Vonage
also?"
Next, fellow Vonage Forum Member kdf55
offers some guidance, as well as a link for further info.
"Does the wireless router have an empty ethernet port?,"
kdf55 writes. "Plug the Vonage adapter in the wireless router Ethernet
port.
"Yes you can plug into phone jack and all phone jacks become Vonage
phones. Just make sure to disconnect existing incoming phone line,"
he adds.
Then, kdf55 recommends that Hap check out the do it yourself house

One thing about the Vonage Forum: don't be reluctant to ask basic
questions. You won't be flamed if you do so.
As an example of that, take a new Vonage Forum thread entitled, Vonage
hook up!
In this thread that he has started, new Vonage Forum Member jlahmeyer
asks:
"I have a cable modem then router then network hub then my
Vonage box. Two computers are hooked up to the network hub with Vonage.
Should I have Vonage hooked up to my router instead. Would it really
make any difference?"
Fellow Vonage Forum Member vonalink's
answer is quick and to the point.
"No difference," vonalink writes.
Vonage Stock Report
Friday on the New York Stock Exchange, Vonage stock closed at
$2.76 a share, which was a decline of two cents (-0.72 %) from Thursday's closing price of
$2.78 a share, but then again that was one three cents higher than the day's lowest price and that was
$2.73 a
share. Total Vonage shares traded on Friday turned out to be
728,400 shares.
