Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

July 20, 2007

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage Voip Forum Digest.

In the news, we'll meet Vonage's latest board member.   Then we'll go straight to two Vonage Forum threads, one about a possible "minutes-used" discrepancy, and another thread clarifying Vonage's offer to former SunRocket customers.  Finally, we'll update Vonage's stock price.

In The News

Vonage Names New Board of Directors Member

Vonage announced that its Board of Directors has elected Michael Krupka as a new member of the Board. Krupka will chair the Nominating and Governance Committee, and replaces Harry Weller, who announced his departure from the Board Wednesday.

"We're pleased to welcome Michael to Vonage and believe that the experience he brings will further broaden the technology and investment insight of our Board," said Jeffrey Citron, chairman, chief strategist and interim CEO of Vonage. "We also thank Harry Weller for his service and dedication to our company and wish him well as he pursues new opportunities."

Krupka currently serves as a Managing Director at Bain Capital Ventures. Prior to that, he was a Managing Director with the Private Equity Group of Bain Capital, focusing his investing activities on technology and technology- driven companies, including software, hardware, database and telecommunication services. Previously, he was part of Information Partners, a Bain Capital fund focused on early-stage information technology investing, and a consultant with Bain & Company.

On The Vonage Voip Forum

Vonage Forum Member drabina opens a new Vonage Forum thread that he has named, Used 11 minutes without making a single phone call. How?

"I just signed up for Vonage 500 monthly minutes plan. My phone adapter did not even shipped yet and my on-line account shows 11 minutes used. What's going on? Is this standard Vonage practice? 11 minutes will not kill me but loosing this amount every two days without making any calls on my 500 minutes / month plan might result in overage charges," drabina writes.

"I sent an e-mail to Vonage asking for explanation but I also wanted to ask forum users if they have encountered anything like that," he adds.

"Check your call activity log and see what number was called," suggests fellow Vonage Forum Member rebus. "That should tell you where the 11 minutes went."

SunRocket, a far smaller company than Vonage but a competitor to Vonage, went out of business on last Monday. That event has led to Vonage Forum threads such as Port SunRocket Numbers to Vonage?.

Starting the thread, Vonage Forum Member netmation wrote:

"With SunRocket abruptly closing their doors, can their customers still obtain their existing phone numbers to transfer to a new provider?," netmation asks. "That has always been my concern with Vonage should they come to similar fate, though hopefully not. Will the numbers still be approved for transfer to a new carrier?"

Seeing that question motivates fellow Vonage Forum Member LuisPR to make a post quoting in part from a Vonage press release that discusses that very topic.

And then I followed with a post clarifying the matter:

"Just to clarify the offer from Vonage to former SunRocket customers is:

Two months free service
Waived activation
Free shipping

Customers receive this benefit when they sign up for the U.S. Residential Premium Unlimited Plan.

Vonage can transfer qualified phone numbers from SunRocket to Vonage at no charge.

SunRocket customers interested in this offer can receive more information by calling 1-888-510-1820.

Vonage Stock Report
