Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

July 13, 2007

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage Voip Forum Digest.

In the news, we will hear about the Vonage Co-Sponsored race car to run on Saturday. Then, we'll go straight to a Vonage Forum thread about Vonage calling plans and another thread which is about issues with one of the routers used in Vonage's service. Finally, we'll update Vonage's stock price.

In The News

Vonage Co-Sponsored Race Car To Run Saturday

On The Vonage Voip Forum

An interesting new Vonage Forum thread has been begun by Vonage Forum Member skyone3 and it is named, cell phone calls- free??

And skyone3 writes:

"Just ordered Vonage, should be here this afternoon. one thing i am confused about which isn't blatantly said on their website, nor did i hear from the customer service rep-

are calls to cell phones in the US free? and are incoming calls FROM cell phones in the US free (to me)??

If it's not free, i don't know if I'll go past my free month. Please answer...thank you very much. Broke girl needs an answer to save money."

Then rgnok brings clarity to skyone3's question by replying:

"To avoid confusing some people, it should be noted that calls TO cell phones IN THE US are free. Skyyone3 didn't say what country she is in, but it is common for the CALLER to be charged when calling cell phones in many other countries (whether they use Vonage, a local phone service, or whatever), which could be the reason for her question.

But ... calls to US cell phone customers do not cost the CALLER anything other than regular toll charges, which, with Vonage, is nothing on the unlimited plan, or however minutes you use if you are on a metered (500 minute) plan."

Motorola vt2542 owners is a new post about the wireless router. The post was started by Vonage Forum Member joeslick.

He writes:

"I am on my second vt2542 and am asking anyone with a vt2542 to conduct a little security test. Router default username: router password: router Change your username to something like admin and the password to anything you like. Check to see if the new username and password are working. Power cycle the router--i.e.. unplug it. Check if the new username and password are still working. If not you can log on with router, router. I would appreciate as much feedback as possible."

Well, joeslick, you are getting feedback, first of all from your fellow Vonage Forum Member Darrell_G.

Darrell_G, who is closing in on 300 helpful posts, writes:

"When I setup security on the VT2542, I changed the username and password form the default router. I can only login to the router by using the username and password that I created...Using "router" (as the password) will no longer allow access.
