In the news, we learn that Vonage will be retailed at Meijer Stores.  Then we move on to the Vonage Forum, where a member initiates a discussion on difficulty with DLink vwr-vd router. Finally there is the Vonage Stock Price Update for the day.

In The News

Vonage Digital Phone Service To Be Retailed At Meijer Stores.

Vonage digital phone services would now be available at the outlets of the retail giants Meijer. Out of a partnership alliance, Meijer will offer Vonage-enabled Internet Telephony Products as well as Voip accessories. This was announced by Vonage on June 22 and appeared in the online website of Telephony World

The Voip Telephony products that will be retailed at the Meijer stores, will allow the users to connect and make calls over a high-speed Internet Connection. The V-Tech IP 8100-1 Internet Telephone system, handset cordless phones and the D-Link VTA Internet Phone adapters are some of the Vonage-enabled products that can be found at the Meijer Stores.

Vonage Interim CEO Jeffrey Citron said on this occasion, "We are excited to partner with Meijer because they provide extraordinary selection, low prices and friendly service. That fits right in with Vonage's mission to save consumers money while providing reliable, quality phone service and support. As with Meijer, you always get our everyday low price, not the now-you-see-it, now-you-don't promotional pricing of some other Internet phone services."

In The Vonage Voip Forum

Jwr52 started a new thread titled," difficulty with DLink vwr-vd router."

Jwr52 puts forth the problem as," I'm a new customer of Vonage. They've sent me the DLink VWR router. I have a difficulty -- does someone have a solution? When installed the vwr allows you to use the html interface to set security settings. I have it set to 128 bit enc.... that is good as long as the power to the vwr is not interrupted. If the power goes off and then goes back on --- the router powers up but forget the previous security settings and thus go back online as an "unsecure wireless connection."

He continued with the thread," This is not safe and thus requires it to be reset each time the power goes off. This is a problem if I'm away for the day and the power to the router goes off temporarily. (I was hoping to not have to purchase a UPS just for this one router). This is not a typical response for routers. Why does this router do this and is there a solution to this problem? Thank you in advance for your help and suggestions."

Darrell_G joined in the thread," You're correct in your statement in that it's not typical for routers to loose their security settings when the power is interrupted. There have been so many issues posted in this forum in regards to the DLink VWR that I would suggest to you to contact Vonage directly about this issue and request a replacement device. If you would like another voice adapter and router all-in-one, I would recommend the Motorola VT2542."

Steve48 added to the thread," Agreed. In the meanwhile, and without regard to the specifics of this problem, I would suggest an UPS dedicated to your network gear, including the Vonage box. I find that it helps a lot in the wife acceptance department to make sure that power burps don't upset phone service."

Jwr52 replied to the thread," Thank you to both of you for your answers. I've contacted Vonage and they are going to swap out the old router for the new one VT2542. However, it's not free -- it will cost me an additional $60.00.They are also giving me a $10.00 credit to ship the old router back to them and they are not going to charge me for shipping of the new router. But hopefully this router will not lose its security settings when the power goes off."

He asked," Has anyone had any difficulties with the VT2542 losing the security settings if the power goes off? Thanks again to both of you."

Darrell_G replied," No issues here with the Motorola VT2542 security settings with a power interruption."

Jwr52 replied to the thread," Just wanted to give an update on what has happened since my last post. As you know I received the DLink VWR router -- it was defective -- as mentioned above. I called Support and after a looooong time talking with them on various levels --- decided to upgrade to the Motorola VT2542. So they charged my account with the difference in price and shipped the router to me. After a long delay the router finally arrived --- however -- not one VT2542 router but 2. Now here's the interesting part. The first router -- would not allow me to connect to the internet at all. After "much" time working with tech support they gave up on it as defective. So we decided to use the second of the two they sent..... But it had an invalid MAC address. So again --- "much" time in speaking with different levels of support they decided they would send a ticket to the highest level of support to see if the MAC number could be swapped and thus it would work."

He continued with the thread," I spoke to the tech support in NJ -- and they didn't think there should be a problem. It would take about 24-48 hours. OK. I called take support in NJ again today -- waited 20 minutes to get through -- asked about the ticket and was told that it was dropped and marked resolved because there was a balance owing on the account. The tech person didn't know what the balance was for -- so I explained to him that "yes" there is a balance owing -- it is for the upgrade of the new router and Vonage will apply that balance to my credit card on the next billing cycle. All the tech support saw did a balance owe --- so they dropped the ticket."

He ends the thread by saying," Having said that --- While I was waiting on the tech support to change over the MAC number I test the second of the two routers that was sent only to find out that although this second router will allow me to go on the internet --- this router would not "save" the security configuration if the power went of and then returned again. What would result would be that the wireless router would then reboot as an "unsecure wireless connection." This is not safe. So -- in the end: 1. I am a new customer that is very frustrated. 2. I do not have a free router that was promised to me. 3. I have spent "HOURS" on the phone trying to resolve problems with Vonage's equipment. This mess is taking up too much of my time. 4. I'm planning on calling the Vonage office in the morning and "hopefully" speak to someone who knows what there doing to get this whole mess resolved. Any suggestions.........?"

On Friday at the New York Stock Exchange, Vonage stock closed at $3.05 a share, a fall of -0.65% was noted from Thursday's which was $3.07 a share. The total volume of Vonage shares traded was 6,628,600.
