Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

May 29, 2007

By Daniel Connor

In the news today we will learn that HBF Group that serves Vonage Canada joins Technology Alliance Program and then we proceed to the forum, where a member raises an issue about USA Bought Router & Phone with Vonage -UK. Finally we shall concluding reading the stock price update of Vonage.

In The Vonage Voip Forum

Blues-n9df started a new thread titled, "USA Bought Router & Phone with Vonage -UK."

Blues-n9df puts forth his problem, as," I have a Vonage UK account. I am currently in the process of moving the USA, spending time between here & there. Instead of taking my router on each trip, I bought a Linksys WRTP54G & a pair of cordless phones ( 5.8 GHz) in the USA. I connected everything up there & moved my Vonage line from my UK based router the one in the USA. Now every time I call out, I get a busy signal, but can receive calls fine. I don't know if what I am doing is possible, if I need UK phones for it to work or what.."

PJoeyDVDZ joined in the discussion, saying," To my knowledge, a Vonage device is a Vonage device. It shouldn't make any difference."

Steve48, a Vonage member added," Please give us all the technical details listed in the sticky message at the top of the forum. Is your internet access working all right with the WRTP54G in the setup? "

Tglea replied by thanking the other members," Just a random thought and I'm not sure it is close to correct but I thought I would throw it out there. Is it possible that your Vonage device is connected with a US server so you have to dial a complete UK number? Country code and all. Wouldn't hurt to try."

Whatumean said," Since you are a VonageUK customer with a device meant for UK, all your settings will remain as a UK device. This means that you will need to dial US numbers as you would from the UK (even though you are in the US) by dialing 00 and the full US number (11 digits) [I'm sure you know how to dial US but put it in there anyway]. "

Whatumean continued," I misread your post or I am not understanding it. Was the Vonage device bought in the US or UK?"

Steve48 replied," If I understand his situation correctly, he has a UK account but bought a second Vonage box while in the US. Your previous message appears to be right on."

Blues-n9df concluded by saying," Sorry for not posting full technical details as I am now in the UK. But to confirm. I bought a second Vonage device in the USA & the internet works fine with the router. I have tried to call all combinations of numbers for both the USA & UK, using both the international codes & not using them. I can call in from the UK, but cannot call out. "
