Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

May 21, 2007

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage Voip Forum Digest.

Today in the Vonage news we will find that Vonage investor has increased its stake. On the Forum, we will read about a member's queries on regarding calls made in cell phones. We will further scroll down to get the Vonage stock price updates.

In The News

Vonage Investor Increases Stakes to Four Times

Greywolf Capital Partners, one of the largest investors in Vonage Holdings Corporation, has increased its stake by four times. With this the stake of Greywolf Capital Partners in Vonage has went up to 7.05 million shares. The came after Vonage, the Holmdel based Internet Phone Company, stated that a new technology may help it avoid future disputes concerning patents.

As per the reports of Bloomberg News Service, Vonage Holdings Corporation has stated in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that Greywolf Capital Partners will be the fifth biggest investor in the company. Greywolf, situated at Purchase in New York, is rated as one of the best investors in Vonage. The official website of Greywolf states that the in the assets it manages amounts over 2 billion.

The top stakeholder in Vonage is its founder and CEO Jeffrey A. Citron, with an ownership of about 31 percent in its outstanding shares, followed by New Enterprise Associates, 3i Group Plc and Par Capital Management.

In The Vonage Voip Forum

Halopunker begins a thread titled, 'Question in Regards to Calling cell phones'.

He queries quoting a free call offer to Europe, "I don't have Vonage but was thinking about getting it, but reading the fine print at the bottom of the page made me second guess trying out the service."

He continues saying, "But if I had vonage, would I receive additional charges on the phone bill for calling people with cell phones? Thanks in Advance EDIT: I was referring to the 24.99/mo Unlimited"

Natehoy a Vonage Forum MVM replies, "If you are calling a cell phone in Europe, yes. In Europe, the person calling the cell phone, and not the cell phone owner, has to pay for the airtime to call the cell phone. In the US, the cell phone owner is responsible for airtime charges. So there's no additional surcharge to call cell phones in the USA. So, if you call American cell phones, you're fine. But if you call a cell phone in Europe, then the airtime charge for that country would apply to that call (see the Vonage international rates list for the per-minute cost on the various "premium" numbers in Europe)."

Halopunker replied saying, "Thanks for clearing that up for me, and for the quick response."

Xcrunxc agreed to the information and said, "This is correct. Cell phones carriers in the UK operate differently than in the US. The calling party is charged a fee to call the cellular phone covering the usage of the cellular network. This is true of any carrier in the UK and is the standard practice there. Vonage currently charges 34 cents per minute to call a UK cell from your US Vonage line."

Danielbo replied saying, "I have found out a problem with calling a cell phone. I had my cell phone set in the features where as if the network was down it would go to my cell phone. Well no one can call my cell phone from my home, nor can I call home. I had to remove this from the feature. I guess we just can call it another feature that has a problem they can not explain."

Natehoy replied to Danielbo saying, "That's interesting. I have my cell phone set up as my Network Outage Number, and it works fine.

When I set my cell phone up in SimulRing, however, I cannot call my Vonage line from my cell, because of course the Vonage line then immediately rings back to my cell, which sees its own caller ID as the incoming call and dumps me to voicemail."

Steve48 said, "I, too, use my cell for a Network Outage number, and I have no problems calling home with it, or vice versa."

Xcrunxc again replied, "I can third the fact that my network not available cell number has no problem reaching my Vonage line or vice-versa. What exactly happens when you try and call your Vonage line from your cell or cell from your Vonage line?"

The last post till know is from JoeyDVDZ who has written, "Look into simulring for the answer to this one" addressing Danielbo's posts.

On May 14th, tysonfamnc, a Vonage forum Master started a thread titled, "Incoming calls fast busy'" but there has been no response to the query till now. Any information from the members would be appreciated.
