By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.

Today in the news we will learn about the recent developments with the Verizon case and then would go to the forum where a member queries on the use of one Vonage line for two different purposes followed by the Vonage stock price update as usual.

In The News

Vonage Wins Permanent Stay in Verizon Patent Litigation

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington D.C. today issued Vonage a permanent stay of a previous court's injunction that would have barred it from signing up new customers. Vonage sought the stay following an April 6th decision by the U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va. enjoining the company from using certain VoIP technology to add new customers. The permanent stay enables Vonage to add new customers as we pursue our appeal. Existing customers remain unaffected by the company's ongoing patent litigation.  You can read all about this good news vonage-forum.com/article3037.html">here.

Rob28 begins a new thread titled as, ‘Fax and voice on ONE Vonage line’.

Rob28 says, “Is it possible to have both your voice Vonage service and fax Vonage service on the same Vonage line, without having to get a second one?” Newcastle Vonage Forum Junior replied, “I have a regular "voice" vonage line and use it for faxing without any issues. I don't think you would need a fax line unless you wanted it to be dedicated for faxing.”

Sheezhot being the Vonage Forum Master replied confidently, “Yes you could use your main line or "voice" line for faxing if you won't be using it for business or not be making too much faxing.” Mcquicker the Forum Associate replied saying, “To those that use a fax on the same Vonage line, can you please let us know if you're using a dedicated fax machine OR software like Winfax, from your PC and a modem like ModemBlaster.”

He added, “I have been having a very difficult time faxing from my PC...” Newcastle immediately replied, “I use one of those all-in-one printers with a fax. It isn't close to my vonage router, so I have it hooked up via one of those wireless phone line extenders. I was a little skeptical that it would work, but I haven't had any issues. The faxes seem to take a little longer than when I had it connected directly to my land line though.”

Steve48 on agreeing with Rob28 replied, “Rob28, I agree with the prior posts, but keep in mind that there doesn't seem to be any practical way to receive a fax automatically if you're sharing a voice line. That's fine in my house, but it may not be in yours.” Rob28 thanked all of them who provided him with some solution.

Dhuston yeaterday posted a new solution to the quesry made by rob28, he has written, “I have a HP 5610 fax/printer that I use on my vonage line. I have a phone wire from my voice adapter to the fax and then from the fax to my cordless phones. I set the fax to work as if it is attached to an answering machine. When I receive a call (or the answering machine - not Vonage voice mail!) receives a call, I answer the phone. The fax machine automatically listens in on the call.”

He added, “If it hears the fax tones, after about 4 tones, the fax takes the call away from my answering machine/phone and receives the fax. It works great for me. I had a Motorola VT1005 that worked well, but I just upgraded to the new Motorola VT2542 and that works great. It seems that the faxes always work now. I am also using a DLink DPR1260 as a wireless print server. The print server is attached to the fax via USB and to my network via wireless. I do not have any problems at all with this setup.”

Vonage Stock Report
