Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage VoIP Forum Digest.
Today with the news slow we will go straight to the Forum where a new members gets his router problem solved by the other members, and finally the Vonage stock market update.
New Forum Member nii posted a thread titling it as, ‘Dlink DIR-655 Router—oIP Gateway not working’.
He explains his problem as, “Hi, I just switched my Dlink Router from DI-624 to DIR-655. All my network connections are ok except my Vonage VT2142 gateway. The power light will not stop blinking and I have restarted it several time but no success. Anyone with a similar problem?”
Steve48 as usual in an attempt to solve the problem wrote, “Does the VT still work all right if you remove the new D-link?”
Nii replied saying, “Yes, the VT works without the Dlink.”
SinceMay2004, Forum Master said, “Power
If it is ever red — blinking or solid — restart the voice gateway (see “Restarting the VT2142” on page 14).
During a normal start-up, it lights in the following sequence:
• Blinking once — You have turned the voice gateway on by plugging it in to AC power.
• Blinking twice — The voice gateway is retrieving its IP address.
• Blinking three times — The voice gateway is downloading its configuration file from Vonage.
• Blinking four times — The voice gateway is connecting to the Vonage server.
• (Optional) Blinking rapidly in unison with the Phone 1 and 2 lights — The voice gateway is downloading a firmware upgrade from Vonage. Please do not unplug or disconnect your voice gateway while it is downloading firmware.
• Solid green — The voice gateway has successfully registered with Vonage. If a firmware upgrade was needed, it has been successfully completed.
Is it blinking red or green?
Is it blinking 2,3 or 4 times before repeating blink. Or is it doing the firmware blink.
You may need to do the port fowarding thing on the dir655.
Also enable the stream engine for voip thing.”
Steve48 suggests, “And if the D-link is running a firewall, try turning it off.”
Nii replied to Steve48 saying, “I did the above two but no luck.
For the firewall the only setting was SPI, which I disabled.”
Emac, a full forum member in the midst of the conversation tried to suggest something.
So he added, “I am not sure because the emulator on the dlink site for this router will not load, but by default there are some dlinks that have mac filtering on by default you will need to turn it off or add the mac of the vonage device// what is the power light blinking sequence though? is it blinking 3 times and then pausing and then repeating, if it is, it is most likely a firewall on the dlink creating the issue, but since you said that you turned it off it may be something else of course another idea would be to just put he 2142 behind the modem and then the dlink off of the LAN of the Vonage device and then you do not have to worry.”
Emac’s suggestion was very beneficial for nii as he concluded saying, “Thx emac.
I placed the VT 2142 behind the modem and then connected the dlink off of the LAN of the VT2142. Everything is now OK.”
On Monday, at the New York Stock Exchange, Vonage stock closed at $3.29 as share, which is a fall of 10 cents (-2.95%) from that of Friday’s when the stock closed at $3.39 per share. The day’s lowest price was $3.15 a share. The total number of Vonage shares traded on Monday was, 1,796,382.
