Welcome to today's edition of the Vonage Voip Forum Digest.

Today in the news Vonage has announced the resignation of the CEO and plans to cut costs. Then we shall go straight to the forum where a forum member is having some problem with adapter, and finally end with the daily Vonage stock update.

In The News

Vonage CEO steps down, Plans to cut to costs, shares rise over 6 percent

Vonage Holdings Corp. has announced that it will cut down its costs, including marketing costs. This will give a competitive advantage to the Voip service provider and also make its services available to a larger customer base. During the quarter ended March 31, the net subscriber line additions of Vonage had totaled over 166,000.

The founder and Chairman of Vonage Holdings Corp., Jeffrey Citron has been appointed as the interim CEO of the company. Vonage spokeswoman Brooke Schulz had also announced that the company is in the process of major restructuring. While the Revenue of the popular Voip company was about $195 million during the quarter ended March 31, Vonage has also planned to make a saving amounting to $30 million during the remaining period of the year.

While Vonage has been signing in new customers, the company is expected to have even larger customer additions after the reduction in its cost is effected. This will also increase the profitability of the company. This news has sparked off Vonage shares which increased by more than 6 percent on Thursday. On the New York Stock Exchange Vonage share rose to $3.20 from its previous close of of $3 a share.

On The Vonage Voip Forum

Newcastle, a Vonage Forum Junior, had started a thread naming it as, ‘2nd port on Vonage adapter (RTP300) intermittent.’ This thread was followed by several responses from the senior members of this forum.

Newcastle stated the problem as, “I'm trying to figure out if my Vonage adapter (RTP300) is going bad or there is some sort of other issue. A couple of weeks ago I had an issue where the light would go out on my 2nd port and the line would not work. It did this a few times and then started working fine. Today the port is not working again. If I log into the adapter it says the registration status is "Proceeding." On the first line the registration status is "Done" and that line works fine. I have unplugged the adapter without any help. The light will not come back on. Does this sound like an adapter problem or something else? Also why would one line work but not the other, if it isn't an adapter problem? Thanks.” At this post steve48 immediately responded saying, “I agree that it sounds like the adapter. This is probably one for Customer Support.”

Newcastle replied, “It started working again shortly after I posted the message. I'm going to keep an eye on it. The 2nd port is for my home line, but it was at least ringing my cellphone while the light was out. I thought I had read here that you could change adapters via the webpage without having to call support. Is this true? I've looked around on the website and didn't see anything, but it seems to be mostly out of service today.”

Steve48 agreed with Newcastle saying, “Yes, you can register new adapters on the web site, and change service between registered adapters.” Newscastle was following the necessary steps so far and after looking through all the sites replied, “I've looked through the website, but I can't seem to find the page where you can register another adapter. I found the page that allows you to move a line from one device to another. That page does have a link to the add a line page where you can order a new device, but that's not what I want.”

Natehoy seems to have some sort of suggestion ready, he said, “I think you need to call customer service to have a new device added to your account. That's a one-time step. Then, after that, you can move your lines around to your heart's content.” He made a small mistake which he rectifies saying, “EDIT: Ignore my suggestion above - it is wrong. The posting after this one has the correct instructions - use the device registration page. I walked through that page and there is a very clear option for "I want to add my new Retail device to my existing Vonage account.” Tmbeem, a Vonage Forum Junior also tried to help Newcastle by suggesting, “Here's the URL to add a device already bought at a retail store: From there just click on "Current Customer Login" and you should be in business. I hope this helps and is what you were looking for.” Hopefully Newcastle will be benefited out of the suggestions provided.

Vonage Stock Report

On Wednesday, at the New York Stock Exchange, the Vonage stock closed at $3.00 a share, which is similar to the closing price of Tuesday. The Vonage stock price remains completely unchanged in these two consecutive days. The day’s lowest price was $2.95 a share. The total number of shares traded on Wednesday was, 1,708,100.
