Vonage VoIP Forum Digest

April 9th, 2007

By Daniel Connor

Welcome to today’s edition of Vonage Forum Digest.

Today ‘In the News' section we will learn, in detail, about Vonage winning in Appeals court. And then go straight to the forum where a new member is looking for some advice. As usual we shall end up with the Vonage stock price updates.

In The News

Vonage Receives Temporary Stay In Verizon Patent Litigation, Continues to Sell Service

Vonage, on late Friday, recieved permission to sign up new customers from an appeals court after an earlier lower court hearing on the infringement suit. Earlier in the day, the lower court had ordered Vonage to stop the recruitment of new customers due to the decision that the company had infringed on three Voip patents that are held by Verizon Communications.

After the lower court decision, Vonage instantly appealed against and won the district court decision that would allow Vonage to provide services to the existing customers but would not be able to sign up new customers from Thursday onward.  Vonage today stated that it views the Court of Appeals' granting of a temporary stay on Friday allowing Vonage to continue to add customers as the first step toward resolving this matter in Vonage's favor. The stay will remain effective while the Appellate Court considers making the stay permanent.

On The Vonage Voip Forum

On the Vonage Forum yesterday, a new member, JimMM, started a thread with the title, “ How Do I Check Message When My ISP Is Down”. Several senior members offered different solutions to him instantly. JimMM stated, “Came home to a flashing red light on the telephone indicating I had messages waiting to be heard. Picked up the phone only to discover I had no dial tone. Looked at my Cable modem and all the lights where off. OK I'll deal with this later I thought right now I want to hear my waiting messages”.

He added, “I call my Vonage phone number via my cell phone and hear my own cell phone greeting. Oh yea that's right I have it set to forward to my cell in case the network is down I realize”. Then he said, “So the question is this. How does one get their messages if they can't use their Vonage service to check them?”

Steve48, a Vonage Forum MVM, suggested, “ Call your Vonage number from any phone. When Voicemail comes on, press *. You should then be able to enter your PIN and proceed as usual”. Thanking Steve48 for his feedback, JimMM said, “The problem is that when I call my Vonage number even from a neighbors house it rings straight through to my cell phone therefore never giving me a chance to here the VM and press the *”.

He then asked, “Do you know if Vonage has an 800 number one call to retrieve messages?” (sic.) JimMM later said, “I found what I was looking for.” After going through the suggestion, roscopco, a Vonage Forum evangelist, said, “Thanks for the tip, will have to book mark this one”. Vonage Forum Associate, miatch said in reference to the context, “if you want to check your voicemail if Internet is down, you can use your neighbors phone or your cellphone.”

She carried on saying, “however, you need to get your access number first. You can get your access numbers at the Vonage website. Might as well save it to your cellphone phonebook”. She suggested, “when your at Vonage website, click on features then voicemail plus after that on the lower right side, you will see there check your voicemail 3 ways for non-vonage phone. Choose the area code of the phone your going to use. (ex. cellphone).

For example she took 201 as the area code of your cell phone and now the access number is 1-201-267-0626. She then suggested, “You need to dial the access number. After hearing the voice, prompt press*. Again a voice prompt asking for the voicemail box number that would be your Vonage phone number. She continued “after that another voice asking for the pin that would be the pin number of your voicemail. After that just follow the voice prompt.”

Vonage Stock Report

This was all for today's edition, tomorrow we shall come up with another edition of Vonage Digest Forum.
