Then we'll read this Vonage Forum thread from a Vonage user with some adapter port problems and then also there's this thread about international call forwarding. Because this is Monday, we'll meet our Vonage Forum Member of the Week. We'll also check in on Vonage's stock price.

More Than 93 Percent Of Vonage U.S. Subscribers Now Have E911

On Saturday the Toronto Globe and Mail, which is distributed throughout Canada, had a brief profile of Vonage Canada president Bill Rainey.

When the 52 year-old Rainey was asked about his "Best Decision," he said, Building up Vonage Canada's leadership team from scratch. "Very few times in your career do you get to do that. You usually inherit."

And as to his best learning experience the newspaper said that early in his career he had a boss like an army general and discovered he was the "wrong leader to follow." He has never forgotten that lesson. "When you're young, you're impressionable, and you realize I'm trying to be someone that I'm not."

And Rainey's hobbies: scuba diving, photography and golf.

New Vonage Forum Member 0Voltage has begun a thread entitled Linksys PAP2 Users - Are Your Phone Ports Like This?.

"I have a new Linksys PAP2 (v2) and noticed that phone cord plugs do not 'snap-in' and lock into the phone ports," 0Voltage writes.

"Normally, like with standard telephone jack ports in a home, the RJ11 plug on a phone cord will snap into a port with a click and lock in place," 0Voltage points out. "Then to remove it, you must first push down on the small plastic lever on the plug."

But next, 0Voltage describes his specific problem.

"With my PAP2, however, the plug just sits in the port and is not locked in," 0Voltage writes. "It is inserted all the way in (as deeply as with any other port), but I can just tug on the cord and it will come out without pressing down on the plug's small plastic release lever.

Then he tells us this happens with both phone ports and he's tried multiple cords/plugs. He mentions that the phone connection itself does work, however, and the ethernet RJ45 plug does click in place and lock in as expected.

"Is this normal for a PAP2?," 0Voltage asks. "Or might I have one with physically malformed phone ports?"

Then fellow Vonage Forum Member outerfire joins this thread with some direct advice for 0Voltage.

"Try just pushing the locking tab into place," outerfire advises 0Voltage to do. "The things are only plastic and may just be getting enough resistance to not go into place."

"Not a lot of force mind you," 0Voltage adds. "But if there is just a minor imperfection, once the connection is made, the tab just holds things there. There could just be some plastic burrs still inside the jack that are catching the tab."

New Vonage Forum Member aeneas would like to have more efficient phone connectivity with his girlfriend who lives in the U.K. So that's why he began a Vonage Forum thread over the weekend that he's named, Forwarding international origin calls to my mobile.

"I have the Unlimited Vonage Residential Plan ($24.99 a month)," aeneas writes. "My significant other lives in the United Kingdom and I live in the United States.

"I have two numbers connected to my account," continues aeneas. "My US number, and then I have a virtual number based in the UK near her," he tells us. 

"She calls the UK number whenever she needs to get a hold of me since it's a local call for her," aeneas explains. "In event I'm not here.."I'd like it to be forwarded to my Mobile phone. However, I do know it's expensive to call a mobile in another country because you are using the mobile network. 

Then, having provided us with details, aeneas poses his question.

"If I were to set it up so that any calls I could not answer here from her were forwarded to my Mobile phone, would she get charged for that? Or would it still be like her calling a local number?," he asks. 

"I understand it would drain my minutes on my Mobile, but I'm not concerned about that," aeneas points out. "I'm just wondering if there's any additional charges if a call were to be forwarded to a mobile number."

"She would not be charged," answers Vonage Forum Member of the Week Steve48. "You bear the charges of any forwarding you do, and in this case it would be from a US number (your Vonage number) to your mobile."

The fact that we've featured a Vonage Forum thread relating to forwarding Vonage calls from the UK to his cell, gave me the idea to mention the fact that we have a Vonage UK Forum here on the Vonage Forums. It's closing in on 360 topics and 1750 posts.

Vonage Stock Report

On Friday on the New York Stock Exchange, Vonage stock closed at $7.22 a share, which was a rise of eight cents (+1.12%)  from Thursday's closing price of $7.14 a share and then again it was eight cents higher than the session low which was $7.14 a share. Total Vonage shares traded on Thursday added up to be 453,500 shares.

We've Updated Our VoIP Speed Test

The fact that both of the Vonage Forum threads we highlighted today featured a Vonage Forum Member posting the results of his Voip Speed Test gives me another reason to call your attention to our upgraded Voip Speed Test.

Instead of the simple upload/download test, this one has all the reporting that is needed to diagnose ISP issues such as Jitter and Packet Loss.

The advanced report screen has been configured with a "Copy to Clip Board" button so you can easily paste the results in the forums.
