As of tomorrow, Sixth Avenue Electronics will sell Vonage's VoIP-based telephony
starter kits in all of its New Jersey retail locations and on its online store,
the companies announced on Thursday.
The roll out of Vonage's broadband telephony products at 6th Avenue Electronics
presents a great opportunity, which will allow us to further develop our retail
sales base," said Phil Giordano, vice president of sales and business
development for Vonage Marketing. "We are looking forward to a successful sales
growth with one of New Jersey's top local electronics retailers."
Customers with high speed Internet connections will now be able to walk into a
one of Sixth Avenue Electronics stores and purchase a Vonage starter kit to sign
up for any of the Voip provider's calling plans. Vonage will offer customers a
choice of devices, including voice gateways bundled with routers from Motorola
starting at sixty dollars. Fifty dollar rebates will also be offered after 60
days of service.
"Vonage is just the kind of service that will allow our customers to experience
the added value of having a broadband connection in the home. As technology
evolves, an alliance between pioneers like Vonage and Sixth Avenue Electronics
will allow consumers to stay at the cutting edge," said Mike Temiz, president of
Sixth Avenue Electronics.
Vonage made news last Monday when the company announced that it tapped SIP-based
security app provider Covergence for its recently launched Eclipse E-911 call
routing, E-911 call recording and E-911 call detail records system. The move
will help Vonage comply with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC)'s rules
that require Voip service providers to provide E911 to subscribers by the end of
next month.
With Eclipse in place, Vonage will be able to route E911 calls to the correct
emergency services gateway, based on the customer information retrieved from the
E911 service bureau database.
