Vonage Canada and VTech Introduce the IP8100-2

Vonage Press Releases Canada's first Voip phone built for Vonage Internet Phone Service

MISSISSAUGA, ON, Oct. 19 /CNW/ - VoIPing has never been easier! Vonage Canada, a leading provider of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone service, and VTech, one of North America's largest suppliers of corded and cordless phones, today announced the availability of the IP8100-2 Broadband Cordless Phone System. The IP8100-2 contains Vonage's Internet phone service built right in and offers consumers the flexibility of using low-cost Internet phone service throughout their homes with multiple phones in multiple rooms to multiply their savings. That means the whole house can be set up with Vonage with no extra router or home wiring tweaks required.

"Vonage Canada's agreement with VTech makes using Internet phone service as easy as opening the box and plugging it in," said Joe Parent, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, Vonage Canada. "With the VTech IP 8100-2 Broadband Cordless Phone System, consumers with high-speed Internet access can place multiple handsets anywhere in their home and start making calls over the Internet to anywhere in the world at a low monthly cost."

The IP8100-2 enables consumers to take advantage of all the benefits of Vonage Canada's Internet phone service without sacrificing the convenience and simplicity of a cordless telephone. The phone base plugs into almost any high-speed connection and has integrated technology that eliminates the need to purchase a separate router to connect the Internet phone system. The IP8100-2 comes standard with two cordless handsets. Two additional handsets can be purchased separately.

"Consumer interest in Internet phone service is strong," said Gordon Chow, President, VTech Telecommunications Canada. "By building Voip capabilities directly into the VTech IP8100-2, Vonage Canada and VTech have provided an Internet phone service that is truly plug and play. VTech's stylish, full-featured IP8100-2 phones are a perfect match for Vonage's flat-rate, full-featured Internet phone service, offering consumers simplicity, convenience and value in a complete Internet phone service."

How Internet Phone Service Works:

To get started making phone calls over the Internet, all that's needed is a high speed Internet connection and a VTech IP8100-2 phone or a Vonage adapter. Within a short period of time of connecting the Vonage adapter or the VTech phone, customers can start making and receiving calls. With voice quality and reliability that is comparable to traditional phone service, the only real difference will be in the great savings every month. For those who don't have the VTech IP8100-2 phone, Vonage Internet phone service can also be set-up using any touch-tone telephone and a Vonage adapter.
