Vonage Press ReleasesVonage Canada, one of the country’s leading providers of Internet phone service, today announced that Office Depot will offer the Vonage Internet phone service.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, August 31, 2005 – Vonage Canada, one of the country’s leading providers of Internet phone service, today announced that Office Depot will offer the Vonage Internet phone service start-up kit at more than 30 retail outlets across Canada and on-line at

“The relationship between Vonage Canada and Office Depot Canada is a natural fit for both companies,” said Joe Parent, vice president of marketing and business development for Vonage Canada. “This announcement gives more Canadian entrepreneurs the opportunity to better compete against larger businesses by combining the power of the Internet with a digital phone service.”

Consumers and small businesses can choose an area code from more than 24 urban centres and suburban communities in six provinces, including Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax areas. Customers can also obtain additional "virtual" numbers from any available area code in Canada and the U.S. served by Vonage. International virtual numbers are available from Mexico and U.K. The Vonage service is portable, allowing traveling business people to simply take their Vonage adapter with them, plug it into a high-speed Internet connection at hotels or satellite offices, and make and receive phone calls as if they were back home.

Vonage small business plans give businesses everything they need to maximize their savings and productivity, including fax service and three-way conference calling at no additional cost.

“When combined with our existing retail channel, Vonage is now available at more than 1030 retail outlets across Canada, the widest retail distribution of any provider of Internet phone service, “ said Joe Parent, vice president, marketing and business development, Vonage Canada.

How it works
To get started making phone calls over the Internet, all that’s needed is a Vonage voice adapter, which plugs into almost any high-speed Internet connection and works with any touch-tone telephone. Within minutes of connecting their system, customers can start making and receiving calls. With voice quality and reliability that is comparable to traditional phone service, the only real difference will be in the great savings every month.

Customers can choose from various flat-rate, feature-rich residential and small business plans to fit any lifestyle or budget, including these popular packages:

  • $19.99/month - Residential Basic Plan – 500 minutes of local and long distance calling throughout Canada and the United States. Incoming calls are free and unlimited
