Vonage Canada And Compusmart To Offer Internet Phone Service

Vonage Press ReleasesVONAGE® CANADA AND COMPUSMART TO OFFER INTERNET PHONE SERVICE TO CONSUMERS AND SMALL BUSINESSES THROUGH COMPUSMART STORES

Vonage Canada, one of the country’s leading providers of Internet phone service, today announced that CompuSmart, a division of Montreal-based Hartco Corporation, will offer the Vonage Internet Phone Service Start-Up Kit.

MISSISSAUGA, ON, August 25, 2005Vonage Canada, one of the country’s leading providers of Internet phone service, today announced that CompuSmart, a division of Montreal-based Hartco Corporation, will offer the Vonage Internet Phone Service Start-Up Kit at more than 35 retail outlets across Canada and on-line at www.compusmart.com.

“The retail agreement between Vonage Canada and CompuSmart is a relationship between two industry leaders and brings us closer to our goal of making the Vonage service available to as many Canadians as possible,” said Joe Parent, vice president of marketing and business development for Vonage Canada. “CompuSmart has a strong history of offering leading-edge products to its customers which fits well with Vonage’s strategy of giving Canadians a better alternative when it comes to their phone service.”

Consumers and small businesses can choose an area code from more than 24 urban centres and suburban communities in six provinces, including Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax areas. Customers can also obtain additional "virtual" numbers from any available area code in Canada and the U.S. served by Vonage. International virtual numbers are available from Mexico and U.K. The Vonage service is portable, allowing traveling business people to simply take their Vonage adapter with them, plug it in to any high-speed outlet at hotels or satellite offices, and make and receive phone calls as if they were back home.

Vonage small business plans give businesses everything they need to maximize their savings and productivity, including fax service and three-way conference calling at no additional cost.

“This is exciting news for CompuSmart and its customers,” said Jeffrey Hart, CompuSmart’s President. “The Vonage Canada service enhances our existing product roster and matches up well with our customer’s primary need: innovative technology that saves them time and money. Vonage has been a pioneer in providing phone service that allows Canadians to get more features by harnessing the power of the Internet – and for significantly less cost than their traditional phone service, something we know will be attractive to our customers.”

“When combined with our existing retail channel, Vonage is now available at more than 1,030 retail outlets across Canada, the widest distribution of any provider of Internet phone service, “said Parent.

How it works
To get started making phone calls over the Internet, all that’s needed is a Vonage voice adapter, which plugs into any high speed Internet connection anywhere in the world and works with any touch-tone telephone. Within minutes of connecting their system, customers can start making and receiving calls. With voice quality and reliability that is comparable to traditional phone service, the only real difference will be in the great savings every month.

Customers can choose from various flat-rate, feature-rich residential and small business plans to fit any lifestyle or budget, including these popular packages:

  • $19.99/month - Residential Basic Plan – 500 minutes of local and long distance calling throughout Canada and the United States. Incoming calls are free and unlimited
