VONAGE CANADA VOIPS UP THE VOLUME WITH FIRST CANADIAN TELEVISION CAMPAIGN

Vonage Press Releases

Millions of Canadians to be reached through Alliance Atlantis Specialty Channels

Mississauga, ON, July 13, 2005 - Vonage Canada, a leading provider of Internet telephone service, today announced that it is advertising on Showcase, Life Network, and History Television, and across 10 other Alliance Atlantis specialty channels. As part of its strategy to market Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) to consumers, Vonage chose to partner with Alliance Atlantis for its first ever national television campaign.

“With its network of specialty channels, Alliance Atlantis has a proud history of attracting outstanding audiences of diverse and tech-savvy Canadians,” said Joe Parent, vice-president of marketing and business development, Vonage Canada. “Our partnership with Alliance Atlantis gives us access to millions of Canadians who enjoy specialty programming and who are apt to be attracted to the innovative and budget-friendly Internet telephone service that Vonage has pioneered.”

Many Canadians are already reaping the fantastic benefits of Vonage’s Voip service. With a broadband connection and a Vonage adapter, anyone can make phone calls over the Internet and enjoy reduced long distance rates and numerous features such as voicemail, call waiting, call display, call forwarding and call answer at no extra charge. Vonage’s service is also portable so the adapter can be used anywhere there’s a high speed connection. Small businesses, heavy long distance users and people who just want lots of phone features but don’t want to pay the exorbitant prices that traditional phone companies charge, will find Vonage’s Voip solution the perfect choice.

The campaign kicked off on June 27 and will run for a 10 week period until September 4, 2005. The television commercials give a humorous slant to the word “VoIP” and at times feature various characters that are remembered in popular culture for reciting famous words or phrases. This time however, Voip will be part of their vernacular. Creative was handled by Toronto agency, Brandworks.

“Vonage is known throughout North America as being a leader in the Internet phone service market,” said Mike Reneau, account director at Brandworks. “This is Vonage Canada’s first march into the television arena, so we wanted to reach out and touch people with the term “VoIP” and make it synonymous with the company. Through enlisting a colourful group of characters and by taking a humorous and edgy approach to the way Voip is conveyed, we feel viewers will remember Vonage Canada long after they turn off the tube.”

Commercials are currently running on all Alliance Atlantis specialty channels including Life Network, Home and Garden, Food Network, Showcase, History Television, Showcase Action, Showcase Diva, Discovery Health, National Geographic, BBC Canada, BBC Kids and Independent Film Channels.
