Vonage Implements Security Solution To Empower SIP-Based VoIP Service

Vonage Press ReleasesEdison, NJ, July 11, 2001--Vonage, a leading SIP-based Voip communications company, today announced that it is incorporating a network services platform from Aravox Technologies and dynamicsoft's Firewall Control Proxy to protect and enhance its unified communications service.

Vonage will utilize dynamicsoft's Firewall Control Proxy that automatically administers the Aravox 3000 network services platform to achieve: Access Control: Firewalling that will protect Vonage's Voip infrastructure from hackers and denial of service attacks by keeping media ports closed until instructed by a SIP Proxy to open them. Address Control: Dynamic IP address and port management to protect the identity of Vonage end-users by making private to public address translation in real time. Path Control: Packet steering that enforces a consistent path for all media packets in order to preserve Vonage's voice quality. Usage Control: bandwidth management that allocates bandwidth on a per-call basis. 'Vonage customers should understand that their SIP-based Voip service is as secure and has the same QoS as their PSTN service," said Michael DeBiase, director, network operations, Vonage. "Such a viable solution allows us to bring our services to market by addressing security, peering and other technical issues that have historically slowed widespread customer acceptance of VoIP." "Vonage is emerging as a prime mover in SIP-based services for Voip networks," said Mike Whitehill, product manager for Aravox. "Vonage's decision to partner with Aravox demonstrates that Voip service providers are increasingly recognizing that Aravox offers the only solution in the marketplace to enable them to implement fully functional Voip networks that deliver the solutions end users expect. Our solution, combined with dynamicsoft's SIP Firewall Control Proxy, will help Vonage provide a truly carrier-class, domain-level security solution as part of its comprehensive SIP-based services infrastructure." About Vonage Vonage is redefining communications by delivering feature-rich, cost-effective, SIP-based Voip solutions, wrapped in a compelling customer care experience. Vonage delivers alternative line services to consumers, and integrated voice and data services to SMEs. Vonage's solutions are primarily deployed through its distribution partners. Vonage recently raised $12 million of initial financing from a group of prominent angel investors. For more information about Vonage, please contact info@vonage.com, or call 1-732-528-2600.
