Your ping results are a bit off. The reason I say this is if you do an nslookup for www.vonage.com, you will get 2 IP's that host the web services. (216.115.22.200, 69.59.254.188) While 216.115.22.200 will respond to ICMP, 69.59.254.188 will not. This is due to each web server being hosted from a different Vonage data center and the edge router in the one location will not pass ICMP into the network. If you were to put http://69.59.254.188 into your web browser at the time you could not ping it, you would see the site would come up. 69.59.254.188 could not return an echo reply to your ping even when your connection was fine.

On the next note, www.vonage.com resolves to web servers. These servers are on completely different networks from the media relays which handle the RTP audio stream and the proxy servers that handle the SIP signaling.

So you will have to dig a little deeper if you want to find the point of failure.
