I think you misunderstood what NateHoy told you. If the setup is working with the wireless point plugged into the Vonage adapter Lan port, then you should be able to get phone service by running an ethernet cable from another adapter LAN port to the WAN port on the adapter. (Yes, I know it sounds weird.) Turn off DHCP in the adapter.
However, as Nate and Trekologer point out, that's not the normal or most desireable setup. Normally you would plug the wireless point into the WAN port on the adapter. Since that doesn't seem to work, check and make sure that the adapter is set up to receive an IP automatically and that your router is set up as a DHCP server.
