Vonage Yes, Vonage can work with a wireless ISP - that is what I have and have been using

Yes, Vonage can work with a wireless ISP - that is what I have and have been using Vonage fine for several months now.

Here are some things about how it usually works:

The wireless ISP actually has a router on their antenna on the outside of your house. The wire running into your house is plugged into a tiny little adapter that provides power over ethernet (PoE) - this is what provides the electrical power to the router in the antenna. Otherwise, what you have in the house is nothing more than an ethernet cable running from the LAN or private side of a router, into your house.

Usually, the ISP router is configured to act as DHCP server, so whatever you connect to the cable coming into your house should be set to gets its IP dynamically. This can be your computer, if that is all you are connecting. You can plug the cable into a switch and then plug multiple devices into the switch, and configure each device for DHCP or dynamic addresses. Each device will then be assigned a private address inside your ISP antenna router.

If, on the other hand, you connect that cable to a router (like a DSL / Cable router or a Vonage combined router / adapter) the ISP's cable needs to be connected to the PUBLIC or WAN side of the router. Then your router will get a private IP address from the ISP's antenna router but treat that like a public IP. Then each device you connect to your router will get a private IP address assigned by your router. All of your devices will route Internet traffic to the WAN side of your router (which is still private) and your router will then route all of that traffic to the LAN or PRIVATE side of the ISP's antenna router, which will finally route that traffic to the WAN or PUBLIC side of that router, which is TRULY public and actually out on the Internet. By the way, this process is known as "double NAT'ing" and it is not ideal, but it is the way it ends up by default with most wireless ISPs.

Where you may have had a problem in the past is if you connected the cable from your ISP to the LAN or private side of your router.

Now . . . the way it CAN work, depending on your ISP (and this is how mine works) is - my ISP has turned off their router in their antenna and has given me the public IP address for the WAN part of my router. So I have a single router, with a public IP address on the WAN and private IP's inside. My Vonage PAP2 adapter is connected to one of the 4 ports on my router and is dynamically assigned a private IP address by my network. And everything works fine!

And finally . . . sorry - this is a long and perhaps confusing way of saying YES Vonage can work with a wireless ISP.
